Abstract
Donde la licuefacción termoquímica de biomasa lignocelulósica se conduce por medio del uso de un aceite de producto recirculado como solvente, los rendimientos se pueden incrementar sustancialmente por medio de la adición de un reactivo de alcohol de cadena corta tal como etanol o metanol. Por consiguiente, se obtiene un efecto sinérgico donde la licuefacción se mejora sobre el uso de ya sea el aceite de producto reciclado o el alcohol solo. La combinación de aceite de producto recirculado y reactivo de alcohol permite una alta versión a presiones operativas considerablemente más bajas que aquellas aplicadas típicamente en la solvólisis de alcohol, típicamente dentro del intervalo de 3,000-6,000 kPa (30-60 bares). La reacción de licuefacción ocurre a una presión subcrítica donde el alcohol actúa como un reactivo gaseoso y no como un solvente.
