Abstract

En el presente documento, se proporcionan aceites microbianos y métodos para producir y usar aceites microbianos con niveles altos de ácidos grasos omega-3. Específicamente, se proporciona un aceite microbiano que comprende al menos el 85 % de los ácidos grasos totales, en donde los ácidos grasos totales comprenden al menos el 50 % de DHA. También se proporciona un método para producir una biomasa que comprende el cultivo de un microorganismo que produce aceite en un medio de cultivo que comprende un inhibidor de la síntesis de ácidos grasos, en donde la biomasa comprende alrededor de 500 mg/g de aceite.
