Abstract

Se proporciona una lámina no tejida que tiene múltiples propósitos. Una modalidad es una capa A que tiene un factor de tensión superficial alto para prevenir la absorción de agua y que puede ser usada para revestimientos de defensa y superficies bajo la carrocería de vehículos de motor para evitar que se absorba agua hacia el material así como la acumulación de hielo. Las propiedades de resistencia al agua son el resultado de la utilización de una fibra hidrofóbica de PET (H-PET) recientemente diseñada. Otra modalidad, útil sola o en combinación con la capa A es una capa B que tiene fibras huecas de sección transversal de múltiples lóbulos para proporcionar propiedades de absorción de sonido mejoradas. Una o ambas capas tienen características termomoldeables que les permiten ser formadas en una geometría específica. En este caso, la fibras de bajo punto de fusión proporcionadas en una o ambas capas son "fusionadas" y entrelazadas o forman un puente en conjunto para producir una composición no tejida rígida resistente al agua/hielo y/o que absorbe sonido.
