Abstract
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mold forming method that can partially increase the density of a mold even in locations wherein a pattern is concave with respect to a parting surface and can make the density of the mold substantially uniform. Provided is a mold forming method for forming a mold of casting sand using a casting frame and a pattern plate, comprising: a step for forming a forming space using the casting frame, a molding flask having a lower opening connectable to an upper opening in the casting frame, a squeeze head mechanism having a squeeze board capable of entering and withdrawing from the molding flask and a plurality of squeeze feet penetrating the squeeze board and being capable of being raised and lowered relative to the squeeze board, and the pattern plate; a step for filling the forming space with casting sand within a casting sand filling hopper for storing casting sand; and a step for lowering the squeeze head mechanism and squeezing the casting sand. Simultaneously with the start of the squeezing step or during the squeezing step, the squeeze feet are lowered facing the concave pattern part formed in the pattern plate.
