Abstract

Se describe un medio de impresión de seguridad para formar documentos de seguridad a partir del mismo. El medio de impresión de seguridad comprende un sustrato de polímero transparente o traslucido que tiene primera y segunda superficies opuestas, y una pluralidad de capas opacificantes solapadas dispuestas en la primera y/o segunda superficies del sustrato de polímero, cada una de las opacificantes es una capa de un material semi-opaco dispuesta sustancialmente toda el área del sustrato de polímero. En al capas sobre menos una región del sustrato, una imagen multi-tonal se muestra por la pluralidad de capas opacificantes solapadas en combinación entre sí, al menos cuando el medio de impresión de seguridad se ve en la luz transmitida. Cada una de la pluralidad de capas opacificantes solapadas tiene espacios libres en los cuales el material semi-opaco de la capa se encuentra ausente, los espacios libres de cada capa se definen de acuerdo con una sub-imagen respectiva diferente, las sub-imágenes en combinación definen la imagen multi- tonal, en donde todas las sub-imágenes son versiones de imágenes negativas diferentes de la imagen multi-tonal o todas las sub-imágenes son versiones de imágenes positivas diferentes de la imagen multi-tonal. Como resultado, el número de capas opacificantes que se solapan entre sí en cualquier ubicación varia a través del sustrato, la variación resultante en densidad óptica de la pluralidad de capas opacificantes solapadas en combinación entre si da lugar a múltiples tonos de la imagen multi-tonal.
