Abstract

La arcilla organofílica comprende un ion de arcilla de tipo esmectita intercambiada en forma iónica con iones de amonio cuaternario, donde por lo menos el 75 % en moles de dichos iones de amonio cuaternario son ésteres de ácidos grasos de bis-(2-hidroxipropil)-dimetilamonio y por lo menos el 90 % de los restos de ácidos grasos de los ésteres de ácidos grasos de bis-(2-hidroxipropil)-dimetilamonio tienen una estructura RC(O) siendo el grupo R un grupo alquilo o alquenilo lineal que contiene de 9 a 21 átomos de carbono. La arcilla organofílica es útil para el espesamiento de composiciones a base de petróleo, en particular, los fluidos de perforación para la perforación de pozos de petróleo o de gas, que comprende una fase de petróleo.
