Abstract

En un proceso para la producción de metanol a partir de gas de síntesis, el cual comprende los pasos que proporcionan un gas de reposición que contiene hidrógeno y monóxido de carbono, en el cual el contenido de dióxido de carbono es menor que 0.1% en mol, mezclar el gas de reposición con un gas de reciclaje rico en hidrógeno y pasar la mezcla de gases a un reactor de síntesis de metanol, opcionalmente a través de una guarda de azufre, y someter el efluente del reactor de síntesis a un paso de separación, para proporcionar en consecuencia metanol crudo y el gas de reciclaje rico en hidrógeno. La adición acostumbrada de dióxido de carbono al gas de reposición es reemplazada por la adición de agua en una cantidad de 0.1 a 5% en mol. De esta manera, se ahorra un compresor de CO2, y la cantidad de azufre venenoso en el gas de reposición se reduce notablemente.
