Abstract
Se describe un nuevo método, y un sistema, para incrementar el pH de una composición aplicada en dientes y/o encías. La composición es formable en gel bajo la influencia de un cambio de pH. El cambio de pH típicamente es un incremento de pH en el caso de una formación en gel directa activada por pH. El cambio de pH típicamente tiene una disminución de pH en el caso de formación en gel inducida por iones, tal como iones de calcio, liberados de un portador sensible al pH. El dispositivo comprende una unidad dispensadora para la composición, un extremo distal de la cual se adapta para aplicar la sustancia en dientes o encías. El dispositivo comprende adicionalmente un sistema de electrodos que comprende primer y segundo electrodos, el primer electrodo que se adapta para retenerse contra la composición en una ubicación en, o cerca de dientes o encías, y el segundo electrodo que se adapta para retenerse contra la composición en cualquier ubicación lejos de dientes o encías. Se adapta el sistema de electrodos a fin de proporcionar una diferencia de potencial eléctrico de 1.5 a 10 voltios entre los electrodos.
