Abstract
The invention relates to a method and auxiliary crane for maintaining an electrolysis installation. The method, carried out automatically, comprises the following steps: identifying abnormalities in the electrodes; extracting, removing and replacing electrodes with abnormalities; and repositioning new electrodes. The auxiliary crane used in said method is provided with a main structure formed by two beams and two end carriages, a grid floor, bridge and railing; a system for longitudinal translation on rails supported on beams; a main lifting system; and a system for collecting electrodes. Said collection system comprises a car for collecting electrodes, in which a number of pivoting arms are positioned having lugs with holes at the ends thereof, which link together with corresponding protrusions at the tops of the electrodes, permitting the extraction, removal and replacement thereof.
