Abstract
La invención incluye un sistema y un método para predecir el desempeño de animales de producción mediante el análisis de sonidos del corazón y pulmonares para determinar las probabilidades de que los animales desarrollarán BRD u otras enfermedades o padecimientos. Se registran los signos vitales de los animales durante una situación de "lucha o huida" simpática adrenérgica. Se determina una proporción de frecuencia cardiopulmonar para cada animal al dividir un valor de ritmo cardiaco ajustado normalizado entre un valor respiratorio ajustado normalizado. De las porciones calculados para cada animal en un grupo, se establece un rango de proporción. Los valores de la proporción en un extremo inferior del rango de la proporción indican rangos de respiración relativa más elevados y un deficiente desempeño pulmonar debido a la enfermedad. Valores de la proporción en un extremo superior del rango pueden indicar bajo gasto cardiaco y una incapacidad para tolerar el rápido aumento de peso. Los valores de la proporción en cualquiera de los extremos del rango pueden indicar una función cardiopulmonar comprometida. Los animales se pueden clasificar adicionalmente por peso, y los valores de proporción dentro de las categorías de peso se utilizan para generar probabilidades de BRD u otras enfermedades.
