Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con el uso de catalizadores ácidos heterogéneos con naturaleza primordialmente Lewis para producir biodiesel mediante la transesterificación de ésteres triglicéridos, preferentemente mediante la transesterificación de aceites de origen vegetal, frescos: refinados o usados, o aceites y grasas de origen animal, con alcoholes en fase heterogénea, en sistemas de reacción por lotes o flujo continuo con rendimientos superiores al 80 %, a las siguientes condiciones de operación: temperatura de 0 a 300 °C, tiempo de residencia de 20 minutos a 20 h, espacio velocidad de 0.1 a 10 h-1, presión de 25-100 kg/cm2 (24.5-98.07 bar), relación molar Metanol/aceite de 10 a 40 y concentración del catalizador de 0.001 a 20 %peso con base al tri-, di- o monoglicérido. Más específicamente, nos referimos al uso de catalizadores ácidos heterogéneos con naturaleza primordialmente Lewis para producir biodiesel en la preparación de alquilésteres de alquilo mediante transesterificación de tri-, di- o mono-glicéridos, tales como los que provienen de aceites de origen vegetal o de origen animal, en particular aceite de palma, jatropha, higuerilla, soya y girasol, donde los grupos R de los alcohoxilos R1O, R2O y R3O de los glicéridos sean desde C1 a C24 y un alcohol C1-C4, tal como metanol, en una relación alcohol:aceite de 3:1 a 50:1. Por otro lado, un motivo primordial de efectuar la reacción de transesterificación en fase heterogénea para producir biodiesel es evitar pérdida de catalizador, efluentes líquidos contaminantes y eliminar reacciones paralelas no deseables tales como la hidrólisis de los triglicéridos, diglicéridos y monoglicéridos en ácidos grasos libres, además de que en el caso de los catalizadores de naturaleza básica la saponificación podría generar jabones.
