Abstract

Se proporcionan proteínas de unión al factor H de originen no natural H derivadas de la variante 3 fHbp que pueden producir anticuerpos que son bactericidas para cuando menos una cepa de N. meningitidis, y métodos para usar esas proteínas. En ciertas modalidades se describen proteínas de unión al factor H de originen no natural (fHbp) derivadas de la variante 3 fHbp de origen natural. La fHbp no natural puede incluir una sustitución de histidina en la posición 223 de la variante 3 fHbp de origen natural con un aminoácido seleccionado del grupo consistente de arginina, lisina, fenilalanina, tirosina o triptófano, en donde la numeración de la posición 223 se basa en la numeración de la fHbp ID 1 madura. La fHbp de origen no natural tiene menor afinidad para el factor humano (fH) que fHbp ID 79.
