Abstract
Un sistema de combustible PEM incluye un bloque de pilas de combustible que comprende una o más pilas de combustible PEM y un ventilador configurado para proporcionar aire de proceso para suministrar oxidante y enfriar el bloque de pilas de combustible. El sistema tiene un conducto de aire acoplado al ventilador y al bloque de pilas de combustible, y una carga de servicio eléctrico acoplada al bloque de pilas de combustible para recibir la energía eléctrica generada por las reacciones dentro del bloque de pilas de combustible. El sistema incluye además una carga eléctrica auxiliar acoplada al bloque de pilas de combustible y ubicada dentro del conducto de aire para reducir los potenciales a través del bloque de pilas de combustible. El conducto de aire se configura para dirigir el flujo de aire hacia el bloque de pilas de combustible y a la carga eléctrica auxiliar, para proporcionar aire refrigerante al bloque de pilas de combustible y a la carga eléctrica auxiliar.
