Abstract

En la producción de metanol a partir de un gas de síntesis que contiene hidrógeno y óxidos de carbono, el gas de síntesis se hace pasar a través de un primer reactor, preferiblemente refrigerado por agua, en el cual una parte de los óxidos de carbono se convierten de manera catalítica a metanol. La mezcla obtenida que contiene gas de síntesis y vapor de metanol se suministra a un segundo reactor, preferiblemente enfriado por gas, en el que una parte adicional de óxidos de carbono se convierte en metanol. Posteriormente, el metanol se separa del gas de síntesis, y el gas de síntesis se recircula al primer reactor. Para lograr una producción máxima de metanol, incluso con un catalizador envejecido, una corriente parcial del gas de síntesis se dirige más allá del primer reactor y se introduce directamente dentro el segundo reactor.
