Abstract

Se describe un proceso de dos etapas para la condensación de aldol. El aldehído a-canfolénico (ACA) y la metil etil cetona (MEK) reaccionan en presencia de una base bajo condiciones eficaces para producir una mezcla que incluye un alto rendimiento de productos de condensación de cetol. La deshidratación de los cetoles en presencia de un ácido sulfónico orgánico proporciona las cetonas no saturadas que son intermedios valiosos para los componentes de la fragancia de los productos sintéticos del sándalo. Comparado con el método de una sola etapa, catalizado con una base, el proceso de dos etapas aumenta el rendimiento de todos los productos de condensación y maximiza la producción de los isómeros más valiosos de la cetona.
