Abstract

The present invention refers to a free-piston inner combustion engine coupled to a linear electric generating engine, which may be operated with one or more different thermodynamic cycles, where the parameters of said cycles may be varied during the operation thereof in order to obtain a higher thermodynamic efficiency upon having an expansion ratio higher than the compression ratio, regarding conventional engines, and a reduced generation of toxic gases. The engine may be operated with different types of fuels without requiring mechanical modifications. The operation is controlled by a software. The construction of the engine requires a reduced number of parts unlike conventional engines. The purpose of the present invention is to provide smaller systems for generating electric power, which are more efficient and affordable and used as such or in self-propelled vehicles.
