Abstract
Los conjugados moleculares antimicrobianos para el tratamiento y prevención de enfermedades infecciosas causadas por microorganismos patogénicos en humanos y animales se proporcionan. La clave para estos conjugados es un espaciador especial que conecta al menos un fotosensibilizador a un microorganismo receptor (vector) el cual, a su vez, se une selectivamente con la superficie de un microorganismo confiriéndole foto-destrucción después de la irradiación. Los espaciadores que tienen estructura hidrofílica tales como unidades de etilenglicol y amino carboxilo y unidades de etilenglicol con extremo protegido deben de utilizarse para enlazar el vector al fotosensibilizador. En una modalidad preferida un espaciador tendría al menos tres unidades de etilenglicol de extremo protegido con un grupo carboxilo en un extremo y un grupo amino al otro extremo. La presente invención efectivamente trabaja para combatir infección bacterial en ambientes relacionados con pacientes reales en donde la sangre, el suero y otros fluidos corporales son siempre presentes o al menos cerca. Los espaciadotes de longitud seleccionada y estructura, en modalidades preferidas, son utilizados para enlazar el vector al fotosensibilizador. Estos conjugados se encontraron ser muy efectivos en combatir una infección bacterial en ambientes relacionados con pacientes reales en donde la sangre, el suero y otros fluidos corporales son siempre presentes o al menos cerca. Un método de uso también es proporcionado.
