Abstract

La invención se refiere a equipos y métodos que permiten predecir el riesgo de parto prematuro en una mujer embrazada; los inventores han descubierto que varios componentes de matriz extracelular se pueden detectar en secreciones cervicales: la cuantificación de ciertas proteínas de matriz extracelular encontradas dentro de secreciones cervicales se puede usar como un diagnóstico para el estado biomecánico de la cerviz, que indica si el parto prematuro es probable; algunos componentes de matriz extracelular que se pueden encontrar en secreciones cervicales incluyen decorin, trombospondinas y metaloproteinasas de matriz.
