Abstract
La presente invención está relacionada con el mejoramiento de aceite crudo pesado y residuos de vacío por medio de la aplicación de un catalizador líquidos iónicos formulado con metales del grupo VI B y VIII B de la tabla periódica. El catalizador es altamente miscibles en el hidrocarburo y se encuentran en fase homogénea con este, la combinación de diferentes metales y la acidez proporcionada por los protones que integran el líquido iónico es posible el rompimiento de los enlaces C-S, C-N y C-O de las resinas y asfaltenos incrementa la gravedad API, reduce la viscosidad, remueve compuestos de azufre y nitrógeno, asimismo, aproximadamente del 50 al 70 % de los hidrocarburos del residuo y del aceite crudo pesado fueron transformados en destilados más ligeros.
