Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un material para lentes de contacto, formado por la polimerización de radicales libres de un material orgánico para lentes de contacto y un ester de ácido carboxílico derivado de al menos un alcohol que está libre de hidrógenos beta en una cantidad predeterminada para proporcionar tanto un valor de dureza como la permeabilidad de oxígeno deseados al material para lentes de contacto, donde el ester tiene la siguiente fórmula: donde A es seleccionado del grupo que consiste en ácido mesacónico, ácido itacónico, ácido citracónico, malonato de metileno, ácido maleico, ácido fumárico, ácido etilen tricarboxílico, ácido metacrílico y ácido acrílico; n 1, 2 o 3; 1, R2 y R3 son iguales o diferentes y cada uno es grupos alquilo, cicloalquilo o arilo teniendo de 1 a 10 átomos de carbono o grupos eter teniendo de 2 a 10 átomos de carbono; donde, cuando A es derivado de un ácido dibásico o tribásico, el ester puede ser un ester completo, medio ester, ester parcial, o un ester mixto, el ester siendo derivado de al menos un alcohol que está libre de hidrógenos beta; el material mencionado teniendo una dureza Shore D de al menos 70 y un valor DK de al menos 10.
