Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para el tratamiento biofísico de aguas de desperdicio, para reducir la demanda bioquímica del oxígeno, la demanda de oxígeno química y el carbono orgánico total, que comprende las etapas: a) introducir el agua de desperdicio en una zona de aeración a un primer nivel preseleccionado; b) aerear continuamente el agua de desperdicio en la zona de aeración, con un gas que contiene oxígeno, en la presencia de una concentración suficiente de los sólidos activos biológicamente y un adsorbente en polvo, para reducir la demanda bioquímica del oxígeno, la demanda de oxígeno química y el carbono orgánico total del agua de desperdicio a los niveles deseados y formar un licor mixto biofísico; c) transferir una cantidad predeterminada del licor mixto desde la zona de aeración a una zona sedimentadora; d) sedimentar el licor mixto, dentro de la zona de sedimentación por un tiempo suficiente para producir una fase líquida clarificada, substancialmente exenta de sólidos y una fase de sólidos sedimentados, en tanto se agrega simultáneamente agua de desperdicio al licor mixto que se aerea dentro de la zona de aeración a un segundo nivel preseleccionado, menor que el primer nivel, y e) transferir toda o una porción de la fase de líquido clarificado desde la zona sedimentadora para el tratamiento ulterior o hacia el ambiente.
