Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento continuo para separar ácido sulfhídrico de una corriente de fluido, que comprende: incinerar ácido sulfhídrico para formar dióxido de azufre; absorber selectivamente dicho dióxido de azufre en una solución acuosa alcalina sin absorción substancial de dióxido de carbono para formar una solución de sulfito esencialmente exenta de carbonatos insolubles, poner en contacto dicha corriente de flúido en una primera zona de reacción con una solución acuosa, a un rango de pH adecuado para la separación de ácido sulfhídrico, en donde dicha solución contiene un quelato de metal polivalente que convierte dicho ácido sulfhídrico a azufre, en donde el quelato de metal polivalente se reduce a un estado de oxidación inferior; poner en contacto dicho azufre con la solución de sulfito para formar compuestos solubles de azufre; poner en contacto dicho quelato de metal polivalente reducido en una segunda zona de reacción con oxígeno para reoxidar dicho quelato de metal polivalente, y recircular dicho quelato de metal polivalente reoxidado a dicha etapa de contacto de la corriente de fluido/solución acuosa de quelato.
