Description

The invention relates to a barrel, namely a barrel for storing and maturing wines and alcoholic distillates.

Barrels, made of wooden staves, bent into a semi-elliptical shape and held together one next to the other around the bottoms with hoops, have been some of the most widespread containers over the centuries, used to store, mature and sometimes transport alcoholic products, mainly wines, spirits and distillates [1].

Wooden barrels retain their importance due to the fact that they are quite rigid and have low permeability to liquids. Long-term storage of liquid products is carried out in these vessels with reasonable losses.

Moreover, the well-known barrels, made of certain species of wood (oak, chestnut, acacia, etc. - a widespread and fairly easy-to-process material) ensure the improvement of the quality of wines and distillates when stored and matured in them due to their solubilization and enrichment with wood extractive substances (mainly of polyphenolic origin), as well as due to slow oxidation processes, as a result of a partial permeability of the wooden staves to atmospheric oxygen.

The well-known wooden barrels allow the production of exceptional quality alcoholic products and are often the only containers allowed for the maturation of elite alcoholic beverages.

At the same time, these barrels are expensive, and the alcoholic products manufactured in them have an increased cost.

Fabricarea butoaieor tradiţionale necesită resurse sporite de lemn preţios (stejar, castan etc.). Mai mult ca atât, la fabricarea lor are loc: The manufacture of traditional barrels requires increased resources of precious wood (oak, chestnut, etc.). Moreover, their manufacture involves:

folosirea neefectivă a resurselor forestiere - randamentul mic de doage brute din materia primă, ca rezultat al cerinţelor severe faţă de vârsta şi diametrul buştenilor, partea folosită pentru doage, direcţia fibrelor, dimensiunile şi forma lor strictă şi uniformă; Ineffective use of forest resources - low yield of raw logs from raw material, as a result of severe requirements for the age and diameter of logs, the part used for logs, the direction of the fibers, their strict and uniform dimensions and shape;

Ineffective use of actual stocks of raw staves at the barrel mills as a result of increased requirements for the shape, length and width of staves within the limits of a set for the manufacture of a specific barrel or barrel.

It is also known that the barrel is assembled from staves with ends of different widths, shaped lengthwise so that the width of the central parts is greater than half the sum of the widths of the ends and tightened during assembly around the bottoms with alternating ends of different widths [2].

The known barrel allows for more rational use of raw staves stocks from the staves mills, including staves of different widths and with non-uniform widths.

At the same time, the basic drawback of the known barrel is that the degree of use in production of non-standard staves remains unsatisfactory, and the manufacture of these containers remains laborious, requiring many laborers, including for shaping each staves according to an individual algorithm, determined by their shape.

The problem that the invention solves is increasing the degree of use of precious raw materials, including based on a more rational use of non-standard staves.

The problem is solved by proposing a barrel for storing and maturing wines and alcoholic distillates assembled from wooden staves bent along a semi-elliptical shape, narrowed at the ends and fastened together with the help of circles, one next to the other, with the ends around two bottoms. At the same time, some of the staves are made rectangular and are assembled by alternating them with staves narrowed at the ends so that the sum of the widths at their middle constitutes the perimeter of the barrel at its middle, and the staves narrowed at the ends are made so that the sum of the narrowings constitutes the difference between the perimeter of the barrel at its middle and the perimeter of the barrel at its bottom.

Tapered staves are made narrower than rectangular staves.

Tapered staves and rectangular staves are made of wood of different species and/or origin.

The result of the invention consists in increasing the degree of use in the production of non-standard staves.

The application of the invention allows for the full use of standard staves, using them to prepare rectangular staves from them, as well as non-standard staves, including staves with defects, using them to prepare staves narrowed at their ends from them.

The positive effect can be amplified by using narrow staves at the ends, made narrower than rectangular staves, as well as by making them from wood of a different species or origin than that of rectangular staves.

The mechanical stresses in the wood, which occur when using rectangular staves, are eliminated by using them alternately with staves narrowed at their ends. The narrowing of the ends of these staves is carried out after a curvature, determined by the dimensions of the staves and the semi-elliptical shape of the barrels. The curvature of these staves, placed between the rectangular staves, can practically eliminate these stresses for staves of usual widths, used in the manufacture of barrels.

In the manufacture of the proposed barrels or barrels, standard equipment for the lumber and barrel industry is used.

Rectangular wooden staves are shaped from standard blanks by simply cleaning their surface and are placed alternating with staves tapered at the ends in such a way that the sum of their widths at their midpoints forms the perimeter of the barrel at its middle.

The wooden staves, tapered at the ends, are made in such a way that the sum of their tapers makes up the difference between the perimeter of the barrel at the middle of the barrel and the perimeter of the barrel at its bottom.

The curvature of the narrowing of the staves for concrete barrels, which are usually characterized by constant staves dimensions, can be determined simply by geometric calculation. Moreover, the radius of curvature can be established by templates, made for a range of staves widths and mounted on carpentry equipment with the possibility of mechanizing and even automating the staves shaping process.

The assembly of the proposed barrels using these staves does not differ from the known procedures. The use of these proposed barrels for the storage and maturation of wines and distillates does not require any modifications.

The essence of the invention is explained by the drawings in Figures 1 and 2.

The set of staves (fig. 1) consists of rectangular staves 1 and staves narrowed at their ends 2 (only three rectangular staves 1 and three staves narrowed at their ends 2 are shown). The set of such staves is used for assembling the barrel (fig. 2), by tightening the staves one long at a time, around the bottoms 3, with the help of circles 4, with the alternation of rectangular staves 1 with staves narrowed at their ends 2.

Rectangular staves 1 allow maximum use of the material of standard staves, and staves narrowed at their ends 2 are made of non-standard raw material or with defects, which are eliminated during their shaping and narrowing. Moreover, staves narrowed at their ends 2 can be made of wood of a different species or origin than rectangular staves.
