Abstract

The invention refers to microorganism strains, producers of biologically active substances, namely to a strain of Saccharomyces carlsbergensis yeast, that may be used for obtaining sterols, particularly ergosterol - precursor of vitamin D2.The strain of Saccharomyces carlsbergensis yeast, deposited with the National Collection of Nonpathogenic Microorganisms of the Republic of Moldova under the number CNMN-Y-15, possesses the property of sterol biosynthesis.The result consists in obtaining up to 3.8…3.9% of sterols in the dry biomass.
