Abstract

The invention relates to the chemistry of natural compounds, namely to a process for quantitatively determining the sclareol in the extracts obtained from clary sage.Summary of the invention consists in that the process includes preparation of a chromatographic plate with the dimensions 10 x 20 cm, with a layer of aluminum oxide of I-st degree of activity, having the trickness of 1,8…2,0 mm, afterwards the weighted sample of extract is dissolved in chloroform, is applied onto the plate at a distance of 1,5 cm from the inferior margin to a length of 7,5 cm of the starting line and is separated by two complete consecutive passé of the solvent system nifras: chloroform: acetone in the corresponding ratio of 5:4:1, then the dried aluminum oxide, containing sclareol, is collected beginning with the distance of 2,5 cm from the starting line and up to 11,5 cm from it, is consecutively extracted with chloroform at 40…45°C with 40, 30, 10 and 10 ml, and after removal of the chloroform the obtained residue is weighted and it is calculated the content of sclareol.
