Abstract

본 발명의 방법은 입력영상의 그레이 레벨 분포를 계산하되, 각 그레이 레벨의 분포가 소정값 이하로 제한하는 단계, 계산된 그레이 레빌 분포를 근거로 하여 누적분포함수값을 계산하는 단계와 입력영상에 대해 누적분포함수를 변환함수로 이용하여 변환된 히스토그램 분포를 갖는 신호를 출력하는 단계를 포함하여 각 그레이 레벨의 분포를 제한하여 샘플들의 편중된 분포를 방지하여 히스토그램 변환을 행함으로써 입출력신호간의 평균 밝기가 현저하게 변화하는 것과 심한 잡음 증폭을 막을 수 있다.

제2도는 본 발명에 의한 제한된 분포의 히스토그램 변환을 이용한 화질개선방법의 일 실시예에 따른 흐름도 이다.

Claims (5)

  1. 소정수의 레벨로 표현되는 영상신호에 대해 그레이 레벨의 분포를 조절하여 콘트라스트를 개선하는 히스토그램 변환을 이용하여 화질 개선하는 방법에 있어서; (a) 입력영상의 그레이 레벨 분포를 계산하되, 각 그레이 레벨의 분포가 소정값 이하로 제한하는 단계; (b) 상기 계산된 그레이 레벨 분포를 근거로 하여 누적분포함수값을 계산하는 단계; 및 (c) 입력영상에 대해 상기 누적분포함수를 변환함수로 이용하여 변환된 히스토그램 분포를 갖는 신호를 출력하는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하는 화질 개선방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 (a)단계는 (a1) 한 화면의 입력영상에 대해 각 그레이 레벨의 분포횟수를 상기 소정값과 비교하는 단계; 및 (a2) 상기 (a1)단계에서 입력영상의 각 그레이 레벨의 샘플수가 상기 소정값 이하이면 각 그레이 레벨의 확률을 계산하는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하는 화질 개선방법.
  3. 소정수의 레벨로 표현되는 영상신호에 대해 그레이 레빌의 분포를 조절하여 콘트라스트를 개선하는 히스토그램 변환을 이용하여 화질 개선하는 방법에 있어서; (a) 전체 샘플수와 각 그레이 레벨의 분포횟수를 초기치로 설정하는 단계; (b) 입력샘플을 입력해서, 입력샘플에 해당하는 그레이 레벨의 분포횟수가 소정값 이하인지를 판단하는 단계; (c) 상기 (b)단계에서 판단한 결과가 입력샘플에 해당하는 그레이 레벨의 분포횟수가 상기 소정값보다 작으면 전체 샘플수와 입력샘플에 해당하는 그레이 레벨의 분포횟수를 1증가시키는 단계; 및 (d) 상기 (c)단계를 진행하면서 주어진 영상의 마지막 샘플데이터인지를 판단해서, 마지막 샘플데이터이면 각 그레이 레벨의 확률을 계산하는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하는 화질 개선방법.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 (c)단계는 상기 (b)단계에서 판단한 결과가 입력샘플에 해당하는 그레이 레벨의 분포횟수가 상기 소정값보다 크면 다음 샘플을 입력하기 위해서 상기 (b)단계로 피드백하는 단계(c)를 더 포함함을 특징으로 하는 화질 개선방법.
  5. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 (d)단계는 주어진 영상의 마지막 샘플데이터가 아니면 다음 샘플을 입력하기 위해서 상기 (b)단계로 피드백하는 단계(d1)를 더 포함함을 특징으로 하는 화질 개선방법.
