Abstract

본 발명은 망(3)을 통하여 비데오-온-디만드 서버(1)에서 나온 MPEG 형태로 인코드된 텔레비젼 신호들을 수신하는 것에 관한 것이다. 멈춤과 재생과 같은 비선형 재생 기능들은 망 대기시간과 같은 대표적인 망의 특징들을 고려해 볼 때에, 바트 스트림을 매우 정확하게 제어하는 것을 요구하고 있다. 수신기(2)는 재생이 멈추어 있는 동안에 전달된 신호를 저장하기 위해 대기버퍼(24)로 구성되어 있다. 사용자가 입력한 멈춤과 재생 명령어들은 대기 버퍼가 소정의 채워진 상태로 될 때까지, 서버로 전달되지 않는다. 이것은 수신기가 멈춤 후에 신호의 재생을 순조롭게 재개할 수 있도록 해준다.

Claims (4)

  1. 전송기로부터 압축된 텔레비전 신호를 수신하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 방법은, 상기 신호를 디코딩하고 재생하기 전에 대기버퍼내에 수신된 신호를 저장하는 단계와, 멈춤 명령어에 따라서 신호의 재생을 중단하는 단계와, 대기버퍼중 소정의 제1공간이 상기 멈춤 명령 후에 채워졌을 때에, 신호의 전송을 중단하는 요청을 전송기에 보내는 단계와, 재개 명령어에 따라서, 신호의 재생을 재개하는 단계와, 대기버퍼중 소정의 제2공간이 상기 재개 명령 후에 채워졌을 때에, 신호의 전송을 재개하는 요청을 전송기에 보내는 단계로 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1과 제2공간은 상기 대기버퍼의 용량의 반과 사실상 일치하는 방법
  3. 전송기로부터 압축된 텔레비전 신호를 수신하는 수신기에 있어서, 상기 수신기는, 상기 신호를 디코딩하고 재생하기 전에 대기버퍼내에 수신된 신호를 저장하는 대기버퍼와, 멈춤 명령어에 따라서 신호의 재생을 중단하고, 대기버퍼중 소정의 제1공간이 상기 멈춤 명령 후에 채워졌을 때에, 신호의 전송을 중단하는 요청을 전송기에 보내며, 재개 명령어에 따라서, 신호의 재생을 재개하고, 대기버퍼중 소정의 제2공간이 상기 재개 명령 후에 채워졌을 때에, 신호의 전송을 재개하는 요청을 전송기에 보내기 위한 제어수단으로 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 수신기
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제1과 제2공간은 상기 대기버퍼의 반과 사실상 일치하는 수신기
