Abstract

본 발명은 액정표시장치 및 액정표시장치의 구동방법에 관한 것으로, 게이트 라인과 데이타라인을 각각 다른 기판에 구성하여 액정패널의 특성을 향상시킬 수 있도록 한 것이다.
본 발명은 절연기판상에, 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 박막트랜지스터의 게이트전극을 포함하며 서로 평행하게 배열된 복수개의 게이트라인과, 상기 게이트전극과 절연막을 개재하여 평면적으로 일부 중첩되고 다음 단의 게이트라인과 전기적으로접속되어 박막트랜지스터의 한쪽 단자를 형성하는 공통전극과, 상기 각각의 박막트랜지스터의 다른 쪽 단자와 연결된 복수개의 액정용량전극을 포함하는 하부기판과, 상기 하부기판의 액정용량전극과 평면적으로 일대일 대응하는 형태로 형성된 데이타라인을 포함하는 상부기판으로 구성된 액정표시장치를 제공한다.

Claims (3)

  1. 절연기판상에, 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 박막트랜지스터의 게이트전극을 포함하며 서로 평행하게 배열된 복수개의 게이트라인과, 상기 게이트전극과 절연막을 개재하여 평면적으로 일부 중첩되고 다음 단의 게이트라인과 전기적으로 접속되어 박막트랜지스터의 한쪽 단자를 형성하는 공통 전극과, 상기 각각의 박막트랜지스터의 다른 쪽 단자와 연결된 복수개의 액정용량전극을 포함하는 하부기판과 ; 상기 하부기판의 액정용량전극과 평면적으로 일대일 대응하는 형태로 형성된 데이타라인을 포함하는 상부기판으로 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  2. 절연기판상에, 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 박막트랜지스터의 게이트전극을 포함하며 서로 평행하게 배열된 복수개의 게이트라인과, 상기의 게이트전극과 절연막을 개재하여 평면적으로 일부 중첩되고 다음 단의 게이트라인과 전기적으로 접속되어 박막트랜지스터의 한쪽 단자를 형성하는 공통전극과, 상기 각각의 박막트랜지스터의 다른 쪽 단자와 연결된 복수개의 액정용량전극을 포함하는 하부기판과 ; 상기 하부기판의 액정용량전극과 평면적으로 일대일 대응하는 형태로형성된 데이타라인을 포함하는 상부기판으로 구성된 액정표시장치의 구동방법에 있어서, 상기 게이트라인중에서 구동하고자 하는 라인을 선택하는 게이트신호펄스를 인가하고, 그 게이트신호펄스 전단에 1수평주사기간동안 상기 공통전극의 전압에 해당하는 전압을 인가하고, 상기 상부기판의 데이타라인에 영상신호를 공급하여 액정용량에 전하를 충전시켜 액정을구동하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 구동방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 공통전극에 인가하는 전압을 상기 영상신호의 극성에 따라 변화시켜 인가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 구동방법.
