Abstract

데이타 베이스포부터 데이타 항목을 엑세스하는 방법은 느린 백그라운드 메모리에서 복수의 블럭에 포함된 풀(full) 데이타 베이스와, 빠른 포그라운드 메모리를 갖는다. 각 데이타 항목은 하나 이상의 소자를 포함하는 라벨을 갖는다. 또한 데이타 베이스는 라벨 헤더의 초기 부분을 각기 구비하는 제2 다수의 트리(tree) 방향으로 구조된 색인 항목을 포함하는 색인을 가지며, 하나 이상의 제2 포인터와, 모든 데이타 항목이 그 초기부분을 갖는지의 표시가 오직 하나 또는 다수의 블럭에서 포함된다. 우선 색인은 라벨의 초기 부분과 액세스된다. 후자 초기 부분 신호에 속하는 색인 항목이 오직 단일블럭에서 포함된다면, 그 색인 항목의 포인터는 단일 블럭을 포인트하고 그 블럭은 포그라운드 메모리에 저장된다. 풀 헤더에 초기 부분을 확장하는 것은 완성된 라벨을 통해 엑세스 하는 데이타 항목의 의도된 서브 세트를 확인한다. 초기 부분을 갖는 데이타 항목이 복수의 블럭에 포함되면, 현재의 색인 항목의 포인터는 다음 연속자 라벨 소자에 의해 확장된 현재의 초기 부분을 갖는 트리의 부가적인 색인 항목으로 포인트하고, 거기에서 처리는 확장된 라벨 헤더에 대해 반복한다.

Claims (5)

  1. 상대적으로 느린 백그라운드(background) 메모리에 포함된 데이타 베이스의 다수의 데이타 항목중으로부터 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트를 액세스하는 방법으로써, 각 데이타 항목은 라벨 소자의 스트링(string)을 구비하고, 상기 데이타 베이스는 상기 데이타 항목을 함께 포함하는 블럭 시퀸스를 구비하며 데이타 항목의 연관된 서브세트의 라벨 헤더의 초기 부분을 각기 구비하는 제2 다수의 트리방향(treewise)으로 구조된 색인 항목을 포함하는 색인을 더 구비하며, 하나 이상의 포인터와, 모든 데이타 항목이 그 초기 부분에 연관되는지의 표시가 오직 하나의 단일 상기 블럭 또는 복수의 상기 블럭에서 포함되는 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트 액세스 방법에 있어서, -상대적으로 빠른 포그라운드(foreground) 메모리에서 상기 색인을 저장하는 단계와; -상기 색인에 대해 호출되는 특정한 그 초기 부분을 검출하는 단계와; -오직 단일 블럭에서 포함되는 후자의 초기부분에 대해 발견하고, 연관된 단일 블럭에 대해 원래의 포인터로써 상기 색인 항목에 포함된 포인터를 판독하고 상기 연관된 서브세트를 확인하는 풀(full)헤더에 상기 초기 부분을 확장 가능하게 하는 동안 상기 포그라운드 메모리에서 그 블럭을 저장하고, 결국에 완성된 라벨을 통해 그 서브세트를 액세스하는 단계와; -그러나 그 다음 연속자 라벨 소자에 의해 현재의 초기 부분의 선택적인 확장을 가능하게 하는 동안 다음 연속자(successor) 라벨 소자에 의해 확장된 현재의 초기 부분을 갖는 상기 트리의 부가적인 색인 항목에 제2 포인트로써 상기 색인 항목에 포함된 포인터를 판독하는 다수의 블럭에 상기 포함되는 후자의 초기 부분에 대해 발견하는 단계를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트 액세스 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 부적당한 소자에 의해 확장하여 검출할때 에러 신호단계를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 데이타 항목에 특정한 서브세트 액세스 방법.
  3. 데이타 베이스의 라벨 소자의 스트링으로 각기 제공된 다수의 데이타 항목 중으로부터 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트를 액세스하는 장치로서, 제1 액세스 수단을 갖는 상대적으로 느린 백그라운 메모리를 포함하고 상기 데이타 항목을 포함하는 저장 블럭 시퀀스를 구비하는 상기 데이타 베이스를 가지며 또한 색인이 그 라벨 헤더의 초기 부분을 각기 구비하는 제2 다수의 트리방향(treewise)으로 구성된 색인 항목을 포함하며, 하나 이상의 포인터와 모든 데이타 항목이 그 초기 부분에 속하는지의 표시가 오직 하나의 상기 블럭 또는 복수의 상기 블럭에서 포함되는 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트 액세스 장치에 있어서, -제2 액세스 수단을 갖는 상대적으로 빠른 포그라운드 메모리와, -상기 포그라운드 메모리에서 상기 색인을 저장하는 상기 제1 액세스 수단을 활성시키는 제어수단과, -호출되는 특정한 초기 부분을 검출하는 제1 검출수단과; -오직 하나의 단일블럭에 포함되는 후자의 초기 부분에 대해서, 그리고 연관된 단일 블럭을 액세스하고 확인된 데이타 항목의 서브세트의 풀(full)헤더에 상기 초기 부분을 확장을 가능하게 하는 동안 상기포그라운드 메모리에서 그 블럭을 저장하고 데이타 항목의 확인된 서브세트를 액세스하는 제2 액세싱 수단을 활성시키는 색인 항목에 포함된 포인터 제어하에서 검출하는 제2 검출수단과, -그러나 다음 연속자 라벨 소자에 의해 현재의 초기 부분의 선택적인 확장을 가능하게 하는 동안 다음 연속자 라벨 소자에 의해 확장된 현재의 초기부분에 속하는 상기 트리의 부가적인 색인 항목에 상기 색인 항목에 포함된 포인터를 판독하는 다수의 블럭에 상기 포함되는 후자의 초기 부분에 대해 발견하는 것을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트 액세스 장치.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 백그라운드 저장 수단이 광 디스크인 것을 특징으로 하는 데이타 항목의 특정한 서브세트 액세스 장치.
  5. 제1항 내지 제4항 중에 청구된 방법 또는 장치에 사용되는 데이타 베이스 캐리어(carrier).
