즉 유리섬유를 약품 처리하여 평직상태로 제직시킨 다음에 수지에 함침이 잘 되도록 열처리를 시키고 수지 코팅을 한 다음에 계단을 하여 봉상금형(맨드릴)에 권취하여 그 표면을 접착테이프로 권취하는 공정을 거쳐서 낚시대를 제조하였던바, 그 과정이 매우 복잡할뿐만 아니라 각 공정들이 거의가 인위적으로 이루워지기 때문에 장시간이 소요되고 불량품이 많이 생기는 결점이 있었던 것이다. 또한 각종 섬유제를 이용하여 낚시대와 같은 관체를 제조할 수 있는 장치들이 알려지고 있으나, 낚시대 제조 과정중에 최초로 제조되는 내관을 제조함에 있어서 경사섬유를 신속하게 권취할 수 있는 장치가 개발되지 못하였으며, 내관위에 다시 피복시키는 테이프의 권취장치가 개발되지 못하여 낚시대를 전자동으로 제조하기에 많은 문제점이 있었던 것이다.In other words, the glass fiber is chemically treated and woven into a plain weave.
