Plastic-sheathed steel pipes had an anticorrosive inner layer and a protective layer sepd. by an interlayer of a low-mol. wt polyolefin blend. A plastic-coated steel pipe was sheathed with polyethylene, coated with a 30:70 polybutene-polypropylene blend melt to 50-300μ thickness, and imparted a protective layer of polyethylene. The interlayer prevented slipping and stress cracking of the protective layer which was readily peeled off.
