Abstract

985,241. Insulating pipes. HACKETHALDRAHT-UND-KABEL-WERKE A.G. July 4, 1962 [Oct. 14, 1961], No. 25650/62. Heading F2P. A copper pipe 1 is insulated thermally and/or acoustically by means of a plurality of insulating layers the outer layers 4 consisting of an elastic insulating material, such as P.V.C. or a butyl rubber, which can have ribs 5, and at least one of the inner layers 2 consisting of a foamed plastic such as polyurethane or polystyrene, the individual layers being separated by foils 3 which prevent the materials of the layers from influencing each other. The foils, which can be creped, can comprise a polyester, aluminium, or a metal coated plastic. The P.V.C. outer layer can also be coated on its outside with aluminium or the aluminium can be added to the P.V.C. The individual layers can comprise sheaths sliding on each other, which can be sprayed or extruded into the pipe, or applied as sheaths along the direction of the pipe axis which are welded at the joints.
