Description

Curtain Airbag Mounting Device {MOUNTING APPARATUS FOR CURTATIN AIRBAG}

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a curtain airbag device that protects a passenger by expanding the curtain airbag in a car crash, and more particularly, to a curtain airbag mounting device that couples a curtain airbag to a vehicle.

In general, the inner panel covered by the headlining is disposed above the side door of the vehicle. The curtain airbag is received in a folded state in the space formed by the headlining and the inner panel.

When the curtain airbag device is operated, the airbag is deployed by the gas supplied from the inflator and inflated toward the inside of the vehicle by pushing out the bottom of the headlining.

The curtain airbag has an airbag that is inflated by a gas and a plurality of tabs installed at the upper edge of the airbag and fixed to the inner panel. The tab is connected to a mounting bracket of metal material which is fixed to the inner panel through the fastening member. The tab thus cooperates with the mounting bracket to allow the airbag to hang on the inner panel.

In the curtain airbag device having such a structure, if the tab is short, the airbag is deployed inside the vehicle rather than the lower side along the side window at the initial stage of the airbag deployment, and there is a problem of damaging the surrounding structural parts. On the other hand, when the tab is long, there is a problem in that the flying position occurs in the mounting position of the airbag device and the deployment direction is not stable.

Therefore, it is required to have a certain length for the preferred deployment aspect of the airbag. However, as the tab has a certain length as described above, it is supported forcelessly from the folded airbag so that the mounting bracket sags from the folded airbag when the curtain airbag device is installed. In this case, in order to couple the mounting bracket to the inner panel, the operator has to set up the mounting bracket and adjust the position to a certain position of the inner panel, and then there is a workaround to be fixed to the vehicle body through the fastening member.

FIG.

Therefore, the mounting bracket 310 can be easily aligned with the coupling position of the vehicle body 3 as the mounting bracket 310 is maintained in an upright position without force without sagging from the outer side of the folded airbag 110.

In other words, when the mounting bracket 310 sags downward without force, the operator must move the mounting bracket 310 upright and then move it to the engaged position of the vehicle body 3. However, as the mounting bracket 310 maintains the upright state, it is possible to eliminate such work hassles.

7 is a perspective view illustrating a state in which the curtain airbag of the curtain airbag apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention is partially deployed to rupture the wrapping member.

Referring to FIG. 7, as the airbag 110 is inflated, the wrapping member 350 is ruptured by applying a tension force to stop supporting the airbag 110 in a folded state.

On the other hand, by the rupture of the wrapping member 350, the connecting member 330 is unfolded from the folded state of the "U" shape to form a straight line. Thus, the end 333a of the airbag connection 333 is located below and the sewing line 373 is positioned above the end 333a.

As such, the wrapping member 350 is extended to an effective length L at which the preferred deployment aspect of the airbag 110 is obtained when the airbag 110 is deployed. Thus, in the initial stage of airbag 110 deployment, the airbag 110 can be deployed downward along the side window.

8 is a cross-sectional view showing a state in which the curtain airbag device is coupled according to an embodiment of the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 8, a curtain airbag device 100 is installed in a vehicle body 3 covered by a headlining 1 which is arranged at the upper edge of a side window of a vehicle.

The airbag 110 of the curtain airbag device 100 is received in a wound state, and the airbag connection part 333 of the connection member 330 is connected to the upper edge thereof through a sewing line 373. The bracket connecting portion 331 of the connecting member 330 is folded upward by the folded portion 335 provided in the lower portion of the sewing line 373 and overlaps with the airbag connecting portion 333.

The support 351 of the wrapping member 350 is connected to the upper edge 115 of the airbag 110 together with the airbag connection 333 by the sewing line 373.

Coupling portion 353 of the wrapping member 350 is fitted on the hanger 313 of the mounting bracket 310 is fixed. Thus, the connecting member 330 is kept in a folded state "U", and the airbag 110 is kept in a folded state.

The installation length D of the connection member 330 is kept short so that the mounting bracket 310 is maintained in an upright position on one side of the folded airbag 110. As a result, the position of the through hole 311a is kept constant, so that the curtain airbag device 100 can be easily coupled to the vehicle body 3.

In addition, since the distance D between the center of the through hole 311a and the upper end of the folded airbag 110 can be reduced by the connecting member 330 folded in a “U” shape, the headlining 1 and the vehicle body can be reduced. The curtain airbag apparatus 110 can be installed more easily in the narrow installation space S between (3).
