Abstract
UE 와 RNC가 전송 지연 시간을 감소시키고 MAC 층 리셋 상의 PDU들의 손실을 잠재적으로 방지하는 방법 및 시스템이 제공된다. 상태 PDU의 UE 생성은 MAC 층 리셋과 결합한다. RNC는 MAC 층 리셋 표시(16)를 구비한 메세지를 생성한다. 버퍼들(22)을 재정렬(reordering)하는 UE MAC 층에 저장된, MAC 층 리셋에 후속하여 모든 PDU들은 RLC 개체들(24)로 플러쉬되어, 그 뒤 PDU 상태 보고(26)의 생성 전에 RLC 개체들에 의하여 처리된다. PDU 상태 보고는 성공적으로 수신된 모든 PDU들의 상태를 RNC로 제공한다. RNC(28)에서 PDU 상태 보고를 수신하는 경우, 손실된 PDU들이 인식되어 UE(30)로 재송신된다.
Description
본 발명은 무선 통신 분야에 관한 것이고, 보다 상세하게는 데이터 전송이 분배되는 중개 노드의 MAC 층 리셋 후에 한 쌍의 계층(2) 자동 반복 요청(automatic repeat request, ARQ) 피어 개체들 간의 데이터 전송의 효과적인 복구에 관한 것이다. 이러한 핸드오버 시나리오의 일예는 하이브리드 ARQ(H-ARQ)와 적응 변조 및 코딩(Adaptive modulation and coding, AM&C) 기술들을 사용하는 시스템이다.
3세대(3G) UTRAN(Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network)는 여러 무선 네트워크 제어기들(RNCs)를 포함하는데, 각 무선 제어기는 하나 이상의 노드 B들과 연관된 것이고, 각 노드 B는 하나 이상의 셀들과 연관되어 있다.
3G FDD 및 TDD 시스템들은 일반적으로 UE로 데이터 전송을 분배하기 위하여(즉, 버퍼링 및 스케줄링) RNC를 사용한다. 그러나, 3G 셀룰러 시스템들의 고속 채널에 있어서는, 데이터가 노드 B에 의하여 분배된다. 예컨대, 이러한 고속 채널들 중 하나는 고속 다운링크 공유 채널(High Speed Downlink Shared Channel, HS-DSCH)이다. 데이터가 노드 B에 의하여 분배되기 때문에, 노드 B로의 전송을 위하여 데이터를 버퍼링하는 것이 필요하다. UE가 종속되어 있는 분배 개체(노드 B)가 변경되는 경우, 분배 개체로 버퍼링되는 데이터의 잠재적인 손실이 존재한다. 데이터가 중개 지점(노드 B)에 의하여 분배되기 때문에, RNC는 패킷 데이터 유닛들(Packet Data Units, PDUs)의 전송의 최신 상태를 가지고 있지 않다. UE는 데이터 손실을 검출하고, 상태 PDU와 같은 것을 사용하여 RNC로부터 손실된 PDU들의 재송신을 요청할 필요가 있다. 만약 상태 PDU의 생성이 지연된다면, 결과적으로 데이터 재전송 지연 시간(latency)이 커질 수 있고, QoS 요구를 만족시키지 못할 수 있다.
각 RNC와 관련된 여러 노드 B들이 존재하고, UE 셀 핸드오버 결과 이동 UE가 RNC의 변경보다 노드 B의 변경을 요구할 가능성이 보다 높기 때문에, 이러한 문제는 HS-DSCH 경우에 있어서 악화된다.
HS-DSCH는 데이터의 고속 전송이 가능하도록 AMC를 사용하고, 데이터의 성공적인 전달 가능성을 증대하기 위하여 H-ARQ를 사용한다. 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경이란 UE가 UTRAN 액세스 포인트와 관련된 셀을 바꿔야만 하는 경우를 말하는데, 여기서 UTRAN 액세스 포인트는 서빙 HS-DSCH 무선 링크의 전송 및 수신을 수행하게 된다. 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경은 향상된 물리 채널 조건들 및/또는 향상된 물리 용량이 다른 셀에서 구현된 경우에 발생한다.
2 가지 종류의 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경이 있다. 노드 B 내(intra-Node B) 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경은 UE가 동일한 노드 B와 관련된 2 개의 셀들 사이에서 변경하는 경우를 말한다. 노드 B 간(inter Node B) 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경은 UE가 상이한 노드 B들과 관련된 2 개의 셀들 간에서 변경하는 경우를 말한다. 노드 B 간 셀 변경에서, 노드 B는 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경 전에는 소스 노드 B(source Node B)로 호칭되고, 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경 후에는 목표 노드 B(target Node B)로 호칭된다.
RNC 및 UE 모두에는 피어 무선 링크 제어(Radio Link Control, RLC) 개체들이 존재한다. 전달 RNC 개체는 PDU 헤더의 시퀀스 번호(SN)를 송신하는데, 이것은 수신 RLC 개체가 어떠한 PDU들도 전송에서 손실되지 않는다는 것을 보장하기 위하여 사용된다. 만약 전송 중에 손실되고 그것이 PDU들의 시퀀스 불량(out of sequence) 전달에 의해 인식된 PDU들이 존재한다면, 수신 RLC 개체는 상태 보고 PDU를 전달하여, 전달 RLC 개체에게 어떤 PDU들이 손실되었음을 알린다. 상태 보고 PDU는 성공적인 및/또는 실패한 데이터 전송의 상태를 설명한다. 그것은 손실되거나 수신된 PDU들의 SN들을 확인한다. 만약 PDU가 손실되었다면, 전달 RLC 개체는 손실된 PDU의 복사본을 수신 RLC로 재전송할 것이다.
전달 RLC 개체가 수신 RLC 개체로부터 상태 보고 PDU에 대해 폴링(poll)하는 것 또한 가능하다. 폴링 기능은 전달 RLC 개체가 PDU 전송 상태를 요청하는 메커니즘을 제공한다. H-ARQ 동작은 일부 실패한 전송을 제거하고 성공적인 데이터 전송의 가능성을 증가시키지만, 궁극적으로 성공적인 전송을 보장하는 것은 RLC 프로토콜 계층이다.
전파 조건의 동적 변화 때문에, QoS를 유지하기 위하여 HS-DSCH 셀 변경은 신속하게 실행되어야 한다. 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀의 변경 동안, UE는 소스 노드 B 내에 현재 저장된 모든 PDU들이 성공적으로 전송되기 전에 소스 셀 내의 전송 및 수신을 중단할 수 있다. 소스 노드 B가 데이터의 스케줄링 및 버퍼링을 실행하고, 그 데이터 속도는 매우 높기 때문에(예컨대, 10 Mb/sec 이상), UE가 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경을 실행하는 경우, 소스 노드 B에서 버퍼링된 데이터의 상당한 양이 손실될 가능성이 있다. 이러한 데이터 손실의 한 가지 원인은, UTRAN 아키텍쳐 내에 소스 노드 B에서 버퍼링된 데이터가 목표 노드 B로 전달되는 어떠한 메커니즘도 존재하지 않는다는 것이다. 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경이 있는 경우, RNC는 얼마나 많은 데이터가 손실되는 지에 대한 정보를 가지고 있지 않는데, 이는 RNC가 어떠한 데이터가 소스 노드 B에서 버퍼링 되는지에 대하여 알 수 있는 방법이 없기 때문이다.
종래 기술의 시스템이 소스 노드 B에서 버퍼링된 데이터의 복구를 처리하는데에는 현재 2 가지 방법이 있다. HS-DSCH 셀 변경에 있어서, : 1) RNC가 UE로부터 상태 PDU에 대해 명백하게 폴링하거나 ; 2) RNC가 목표 셀에서 전송을 시작할 수 있고 UE에 의해 구현된 시퀀스 불량(out-of-sequence) 전달이 상태 PDU를 생성하는 것이다.
RNC가 명백하게 상태 PDU에 대해 폴링하는 첫번째 경우에서, RNC는 우선 물리 채널이 새로운 셀에서 확립될 때까지 대기해야만 한다. 그 뒤 상태 PDU 요청은 전달되어 UE에 의하여 수신되고 처리된다. UE는 상태 PDU를 생성하고 RNC로 그것을 전달하고, RNC는 그 상태 PDU를 처리하고 어느 PDU들이 재전송의 필요가 있는지 결정한다.
RNC가 소스 셀에서 중단된 PDU들을 전송하기 막 시작한 두번째 경우에서, UE는 데이터의 시퀀스 불량 전달을 인식하고 RNC로 상태 PDU를 생성한다. RNC는 상태 PDU를 처리하고 어느 PDU들이 재전송의 필요가 있는지 알게 된다.
이러한 2 가지 경우 중 어느 하나에 있어서, 만약 소스 노드 B에서 버퍼링된 데이터가 복구될 필요가 있다면, 그 뒤 상태 PDU가 처리될 것이지만, UE에 의해 재전송된 데이터의 적합한 수신은 현저하게 지연될 것이다. 이것은 UE에 의한 상태 PDU의 지연된 생성과 RNC에서의 상태 PDU의 수신에 기인한다. 만약 전송이 RLC 인식 모드(RLC acknowledged mode)에서 수행된다면, 데이터는 데이터의 시퀀스 양호(in-sequence) 전달이 수행될 수 있을 때까지 보다 높은 계층으로 전달되지 않는다. 따라서, UE는 손실된 PDU들이 재전송될 수 있을 때까지 시퀀스 불량 데이터를 버퍼링할 필요가 있다. 이것은 전송 지연을 야기할 뿐만 아니라, UE로 하여금 손실된 데이터가 성공적으로 재전송될 수 있을 때까지 연속적인 데이터 수신을 위한 데이터 버퍼링을 할 수 있는 메모리를 구비하도록 요구한다. 그렇지 않다면 효과적인 데이터 속도가 감소되고, 그로써 QoS에 영향을 끼친다. 메모리는 매우 고가이기 때문에, 이것은 바람직하지 않은 설계 제한이 된다.
핸드오버 시 발생하는 다른 문제는 UE 내에서 버퍼링되는 데이터이다. MAC 계층 내에는, 통상 H-ARQ 프로세싱을 수행하는 다수의 H-ARQ 프로세서가 존재한다. 도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, H-ARQ 프로세싱은 전송 측면(P1B-P5B)에서 복수의 병렬 H-ARQ 프로세서들과 수신 측면(P1UE-P5UE)의 대응하는 복수의 병렬 H-ARQ 프로세서들을 포함하는 기술이다. 각 프로세서 쌍(예컨대 P1B 및 P1UE)은, 데이터의 각 블럭이 에러 없이 수신되도록 하기 위하여, 전송이 성공될 때까지 데이터 블럭의 전송을 반복적이고 순차적으로 시도한다. 각 데이터 블럭에 대하여, 성공적인 H_ARQ 전송을 달성할 필요가 있는 시간은 변한다. 여러 데이터 블럭들이 병렬로 처리되기 때문에, 전송 시퀀스는 유지되지 않는다. 그러므로, 일단 데이터 블럭이 수신 H-ARQ 프로세서에 의해 성공적으로 수신되면, 데이터 블럭은 RLC 계층으로 시퀀스 양호 전달을 제공하기 위하여 재정렬(reordering) 버퍼로 포워딩된다. 재정렬 버퍼들은 데이터 블럭들을 RLC 계층으로 포워딩하기 전에 그 전송 시퀀스 번호에 기초하여 그들을 재정렬할 것이다.
노드 B 간(inter Node B) 또는 노드 B 내(intra Node B) 핸드오버 동안, RRC 메세지들은 종종 UE로 MAC 계층 리셋 표시자를 운반한다. MAC 계층 리셋 표시자를 수신하자마자, UE는 이에 제한되지는 않지만, 구성된 모든 H-ARQ 처리들을 위하여 버퍼들을 플러쉬(flush)하는 단계를 포함하는 기능들의 시퀀스를 수행한다(즉, 재정렬 버퍼들 내의 모든 MAC-hs 계층 PDU들을 MAC-d 계층 PDU들로 해체하고 모든 MAC-d 계층 PDU들을 MAC-d 계층으로 전달하고 그 뒤 그 관련 RLC 개체들로 전달함). 노드 B 간 핸드오버 시에, UE 내의 MAC-hs 계층을 리셋하여 모든 H-ARQ 처리와 모든 재정렬 버퍼들이 목표 노드 B의 새로운 MAC-hs 개체로부터의 데이터 수신을 위하여 리셋되도록 할 필요가 있다.
서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경 후에, 성공적인 또는 실패한 수신 PDU들의 정확한 상태는 MAC 계층 리셋의 절차가 완료되고 그 데이터 블럭이 RLC에 의하여 처리될 때까지 획득될 수 없다.
UE에서 버퍼링된 데이터가 사용자의 QoS 요구를 적합하게 유지하기 위하여 처리될 수 있는 시스템 및 방법을 구비하는 것이 바람직하다.
본 발명은, UE 및 RNC가 전송 지연 시간을 감소시키고 MAC 계층 리셋에서의 PDU들의 손실을 잠재적으로 방지하기 위한 연속적인 조치를 수행하는 방법 및 시스템이다. 상태 PDU의 UE 생성은 MAC 계층 리셋과 연결된다. RNC는 MAC 리셋 표시를 구비한 신호 메세지를 생성한다. MAC 계층 리셋 요청의 수신에 기인한 MAC 계층 리셋에 후속하여, UE MAC 계층 재정렬 버퍼들 내에 저장된 모든 PDU들은 RLC 개체들로 플러쉬되고, 그 뒤 PDU 상태 보고의 생성 전에 RLC 개체들에 의하여 처리된다. PDU 상태 보고는 성공적으로 수신된 모든 PDU들의 상태를 RNC로 제공한다. 이것은 PDU 상태 보고의 고속 생성을 제공한다. RNC에서 PDU 상태 보고를 수신하는 경우, 손실된 PDU들은 인식되고 UE로 재송신된다.

도 2의 흐름도를 참고하면, MAC 계층 리셋 조건에 의한 최소 지연을 사용하여 UE로의 PDU 전송 상태를 결정하는 방법(10)을 포함하는 본 발명의 제1 실시예가 나타나 있다. 절차는 RNC가 UE MAC 계층을 리셋할 필요를 인식하면서 시작된다(단계 12).
UE MAC 계층 리셋을 위한 하나의 가능한 원인은 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경이 있는 경우이다. RNC는 노드 B 간 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경의 경우 및 노드 B 내 서빙 HS-DSCH 셀 변경의 경우에 노드 B에게 HS-DSCH 셀 변경을 알려주는데, 여기서 소스 노드 B는 목표 노드 B와 동일하지만, 전송 큐들은 소스로부터 목표 셀로 재-라우팅(rerout)될 수 없다. 이러한 두가지 경우 모두에 있어서, MAC 리셋이 필요하다. HS-DSCH는 데이터 트랜스포트 채널이다. 각 데이터 트랜스포트 채널에 대하여, 복수의 RLC 인스턴스들이 존재할 수 있다. RLC 인스턴스들은 동일한 트랜스포트 채널로 맵핑될 수 있는 실질적인 논리 채널들이다 ; 예컨대, 여러 RLC 개체들은 단일 트랜스포트 채널 HS-DSCH로 맵핑될 수 있다. RLC 인스턴스는 만약 ARQ가 피어 RLC 인스턴스들 사이에서 정확한 전송을 보장하도록 사용되는 경우 인식 모드로 호출된다. 한쌍의 AM RLC 개체들은 수신기가 PDU들의 성공적인 전송 상태를 전달자에게 표시하기 위하여 상태 PDU들을 사용한다. HS-DSCH 셀 변경 및 MAC 계층 리셋의 발생에 후속하여, 특정한 HS-DSCH와 관련된 AM RLC 인스턴스들 각각이 상태 PDU를 생성한다.
MAC 계층 리셋 표시자에 따른 RRC 메세지는 UE의 RRC에 의하여 수신되고 처리된다(단계 18). UE RRC는 MAC 계층 리셋 표시자가 설정되는지 여부를 체크하고, 만약 그렇다면, RRC는 MAC 계층에게 MAC 계층 리셋 요청을 알린다(단계 20). MAC 계층 리셋 요청을 수신하자마자, 다른 작업들에 추가하여 MAC 계층 리셋들은 HS-DSCH로 맵핑된 RLC 개체들로 그 재정렬 버퍼들에 저장된 모든 PDU들을 플러쉬(flush)한다. 모든 플러쉬된 PDU들은 그 뒤 PDU 상태 보고의 생성(단계 26) 전에 HS-DSCH로 맵핑된 RLC 인스턴스들에 의하여 처리된다(단계 24).
PDU 상태 보고 생성 전의 재정렬된 버퍼들에 스톨(stall)된 PDU들의 RLC 처리는 RNC로 정확하고 완전한 전송 상태를 제공하기 위하여 필요하다. 만약 PDU 상태 보고들이 일찍이 생성된다면(즉, MAC 재정렬 큐들에서 버퍼링된 모든 PDU들이 RLC 인스턴스들에 의하여 처리되기 전), 일부 PDU들이 수신되지 않은 것처럼 부정확하게 표시될 수 있고, 결과적으로 불필요한 PDU 재전송들이 RNC에 의하여 생성될 수 있다.
모든 PDU들이 RLC에 의하여 처리되었음을 보장하여 AM RLC 개체들이 모든 성공적으로 수신된 PDU들의 정확한 상태를 획득할 수 있는 여러 방법이 존재한다. 우선, MAC 계층은 PDU들을 시퀀스 순으로 각 재정렬 큐로부터 포워딩하고, 그 뒤 각 재정렬 큐에 대한 "PDU의 말단(end-of-PDU)" 표시를 생성한다.
제2의 다른 방법으로, 각 재정렬 큐로부터의 최종 PDU가 특별한 표시자를 구비하는 것이다. 이것들은 UE에서 수신된 RLC PDU들의 상태 보고들이다.
제3의 다른 방법으로, RLC는 PDU들이 처리되었을 때, MAC 계층으로 추인(confirm)하고, 모든 PDU들을 처리한 다음 MAC 계층은 RLC로의 PDU 상태 요청을 생성한다. PDU 상태 메세지의 생성 전에 RLC에 의하여 모든 PDU들이 처리되는 것을 보증하기 위하여 MAC 계층 및 RLC 간의 처리를 조정하는 다양한 방법이 존재함은 물론이다.
PDU들을 수신하고 처리한 후에, AM RLC는 수신이 성공되었거나, 실패한 PDU들 모두를 나타내는 PDU 상태 보고를 생성한다(단계 26). PDU 상태 보고는 HS-DSCH로 맵핑된 각 AM RLC 인스턴스에 대하여 생성된다. 어떠한 PDU들도 그 AM RLC 인스턴스를 위하여 MAC 계층으로부터 포워딩되지 않았음에도 불구하고, PDU 상태 보고가 생성될 수 있다. UE는 그 뒤 자동적으로 HS-DSCH와 관련된 각 AM RLC 인스턴스에 대한 PDU 상태 보고를 RNC로 전달한다.
RNC에서, AM RLC 및 MAC 엔터팅들이 MAC 계층 리셋에 기인하여 PDU들의 전송을 중단한 것으로 통보되지 않는다고 가정하면, RNC는 MAC 계층 리셋에도 불구하고 PDU들의 전송을 계속한다. HS-DSCH와 관련된 각 AM RLC 인스턴스에 대한 PDU 상태 보고를 수신하자마자, RNC 내의 RLC 인스턴스들은 손실된 PDU들을 판단하고 성공적인 전달을 보장할 필요가 있는 것과 같이(단계 30) PDU 재전송을 생성하기 위하여 상태 보고를 처리한다(단계 28). 서비스 품질 요청을 달성하기 위하여, 재전송들은 현재 전송 처리에 대해 선행할 수 있다.
MAC 계층 리셋에 대한 필요는 PDU 상태 보고를 생성할 필요와 공통됨은 물론이다. 필요성 또는 공통 표시 중 어느 하나의 표시는 MAC 계층 리셋과 PDU 상태 보고의 생성 모두를 야기하기 위한 UE로 전달될 수 있다. UE는 그 뒤 설명된 시퀀스로 각 기능을 실행할 것이다.
도 2에 도시된 본 발명의 제1 실시예는, 데이터 경로가 하나의 무선 링크로부터 다른 무선 링크로 변환되는 경우, RNC로 하여금 UE로의 전송을 유지할 수 있게 한다. 그러나, 도 3과 4에 도시된 본 발명의 다른 2 개의 실시예에 따르면, 데이터 전송은 후속적인 이벤트가 발생할 때까지 MAC 계층 리셋에 대한 필요로 귀결되는 HS-DSCH 셀 변경 또는 다른 이벤트의 경우에 중단된다. 도 2에 도시된 단계들과 동일한 구성요소 번호를 구비한 도 3 및 4에 도시된 단계들은 동일한 것임을 주목해야 한다. 따라서, 그러한 단계들의 설명은 도 3 및 4에 대해서는 반복하지 않을 것이다.
본 발명의 제2의 실시예는 도 3에서 설명되며, MAC 계층 리셋 조건에 의한 최소 지연을 사용하여 UE로의 PDU 전송 상태를 결정하는 방법(40)을 포함한다. RNC가 MAC 계층 리셋(단계 12)에 대한 필요성을 인식하고 노드 B 및 UE가 통보받은 후에(단계 14 및 16), RNC는 모든 다운링크 HS-DSCH 전송(단계 17)을 중단한다. 단계(17)은 역효과 없이 단계(14 또는 16)에 앞서 실행될 수 있음에 주목해야 한다. RNC는 후속적으로 PDU 상태 보고를 수신한다(단계 32). RNC는 재전송을 처음으로 요청하는 손실된 PDU들의 전송을 스케줄링함으로써 새로운 셀 내의 전송을 개시한다. RNC는 그 뒤 단계(17)에서 전송이 이전에 중단된 지점에서 PDU 전송을 재개한다(단계 38). 단계(36 및 38)가 동시에 실행될 가능성 또한 존재한다.

UE와 RNC 사이에서 전달되는 많은 상이한 신호들이 존재하고, 임의의 이러한 신호들은 본 발명에 따라서 트리거로써 사용자가 사용하고자 하는 대로 선택될 수 있다. 따라서, 전술한 3 개의 예들은 제한적인 것이 아니라 설명을 목적으로 한 것이다. 트리거의 형태에도 불구하고 트리거가 수신된 후에는 RNC가 HS-DSCH 전송을 재시작한다(단계 21).

- 소스 셀로부터 목표 셀로의 고속 다운링크 공유 채널(HS-DSCH) 셀 변경을 가능하게 하는 사용자 장치(UE)로서, 상기 UE에 의하여 수신된 패킷 데이터 유닛들(PDUs)을 버퍼링하기 위하여 적어도 하나의 재정렬 버퍼를 포함하고,리셋 표시를 검출하고 상기 리셋 표시에 응답하여 상기 적어도 하나의 재정렬 버퍼를 플러쉬하는 수단과;상기 재정렬 버퍼의 플러쉬에 후속하여 상기 UE에 의하여 수신된 상기 데이터의 상태를 결정하는 상태 수단과;상기 결정에 기반하여 상태 보고를 생성하는 수단과;상기 데이터 상태 보고를 전송하는 수단;을 포함하는 사용자 장치.
- 제23항에 있어서, 상기 상태 수단은 상기 재정렬 버퍼가 모든 PDU들에 대해 플러쉬된 것을 나타내는 제어 신호에 응답하여 상기 결정을 수행하는 것인 사용자 장치.
- 제24항에 있어서, 상기 제어 신호는 상기 재정렬 버퍼 내의 상기 모든 PDU들이 플러쉬된 경우 생성된 PDU의 말단 표시인 것인 사용자 장치.
- 제24항에 있어서, 상기 재정렬 버퍼 내의 상기 최종 PDU는 고유한 것이고, 상기 제어 신호는 상기 최종 PDU를 포함하는 것인 사용자 장치.
- 제24항에 있어서, 상기 재정렬 버퍼 내의 상기 최종 PDU는 특별한 표시자를 포함하는 것이고, 상기 제어 신호는 상기 특별한 표시자를 포함하는 것인 사용자 장치.
