Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for producing a multilayer bristle material (1). The bristle material is mainly composed of a core 2 that determines the flexibility of the bristle, a coating layer 4 and an intermediate layer 3 that primarily determine the brush effect. The core 2 is applied by an intermediate layer consisting of a viscous liquid after it is produced by extrusion. When the intermediate layer 3 is almost dried, a continuous material, preferably a coating layer 4 of woven synthetic material, is applied over the intermediate layer 3 during bonding of the intermediate layer.
Description
The present invention relates to bristle materials used in the manufacture of cleaning, polishing or media application brushes, paintbrushes, interdental fixtures and the like. The action of the bristles, including bristles, some bristles and / or bristles, on the one hand depends on the material selection and on the other hand on the structure of the bristles, in particular the structure of their surfaces. Some are moved by the ends of the bristles only while cleaning or passing through gaps, cavities, etc., but the main working part of the bristles is formed by bristles that are rounded under pressure, rubbing or crushing to fracture. Produce an action. Therefore, the crucial part for the desired action is the surface structure of the bristles.
This discovery led to many bristles. Thus, direct geometrical construction of the surface of the bristles has been disclosed (US 4373541). However, the manufacturing process of these bristles is extremely complicated. In addition, two-component bristles have been disclosed comprising one or more monofilaments and a jacket surrounding the short fibers (WO 97/25902, US 3698405). It has also been disclosed to twist or otherwise combine several short fibers to form bristles (DE 1222888, DE 19640853, JP 3289906). However, although the preparation of such bristle materials is relatively simple, the short fibers must be joined together in adhesives or other suitable manner to obtain stable coalescence. The tip design of these bristles is problematic because it is not possible to round the ends necessary for many of the bristles' uses.
Finally, interdental fixtures and bristles have been disclosed wherein the adhesion promoting coating is applied to the support short fiber core and the fibers are locked onto the moisturizing coating (DE 3717475, US 3698405). The fibers are substantially perpendicular to the surface. Although these bristles can produce new effects and especially can be used to absorb the coating medium, short fibers are lost or dropped after a period of time due to the lack of adequate support on the short fiber surface. Not only does this reduce the desired action, but the fallen fibers are extremely undesirable at the treatment surface. If such bristles are used in hygiene, for example oral and dental care, the broken bristles will have extremely unpleasant effects.
The present invention relates to a method for producing a multilayer bristle material comprising a core mainly determining the bending force of the bristle, a cover layer and an intermediate layer mainly determining the brush action, the core is produced by extrusion molding, and then the core The present invention relates to a method for producing a multilayer bristle material in which an intermediate layer from a liquid to viscous state is provided, and then a cover layer is provided.

2 is a cross-sectional view of the bristle material according to FIG. 1,
3 is a longitudinal view of a bristle material of another embodiment, and
4 is a cross-sectional view of a bristle material of another embodiment.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a bristle material manufacturing method capable of producing bristles having a bristles action suitable for the intended use. Another object of the present invention is to provide such bristles.
Based on the method according to the preamble of claim 1, this object is achieved by applying a cover layer of continuous material to the intermediate layer and inserting it into the intermediate layer after the intermediate layer has become almost dried.
Unlike in the case of known three-component bristles, the adhesion promoting interlayer applied to the core material comprising short fibers or multifibers is initially dried and then a continuous cover layer is applied to the interlayer and with the application Or thereafter, the continuous material is at least partially bonded or inserted into the intermediate layer.
Bonding can occur when the continuous material is applied to the intermediate layer under pretention. If the intermediate layer has a corresponding soft setting and elastic deformation is possible, the pretension is sufficient to bond the continuous material to the intermediate layer or to support it in motion.
Replacement of the intermediate layer can be made from a material that can be reactivated after the process. In this case the continuous material is applied to an intermediate layer which is dried and optionally no longer deforms. During or after application of the continuous material, the intermediate layer is reactivated and subsequently returned to the solid state after insertion of the continuous material has been performed.
As a result of the reactivation, the intermediate layer softens to some extent soaking of the applied continuous material. The intermediate layer may also have an adhesive action, and may include, for example, a hot melt adhesive so that the continuous material is bonded to the core by the adhesive force. However, the structure imparted to the bristles by the continuous material is maintained completely or more predominantly so that there is no departure of the cover layer formed of the continuous material.
It is also possible to use an intermediate layer of foam material and foam the intermediate layer after application of the continuous material, so that the intermediate layer at least partially surrounds the continuous material and in this way the continuous material is inserted into the intermediate layer. Intermediate layers, including soft or flexible foams, provide a path under pressure and may therefore be inserted deeper unless constrained the continuous material. The core and the intermediate layer are preferably coextruded so that, after a given travel interval, while the intermediate layer changes to a state of no more damage of adequate firmness, the continuous material is applied to the intermediate layer.
Since the short fibers of the bristles must be stretched to give the bristles the necessary flexural strength, in a further variant of the method according to the invention, the core together with the interlayer is extruded and stretched and only after that the continuous material is applied. Optionally, the core and the applied continuous material together with the intermediate layer can be stretched further.
According to another embodiment, after the application of the continuous material to the intermediate layer, a film is applied to smooth the expressed appearance given by the smooth and seamless material.
After application of the continuous material to the intermediate layer, it is also possible to subsequently treat the bristle material from the outside. This may be mechanical work, soaking in the coating medium or applying. Mechanical work involves cutting in the longitudinal direction of the continuous material at least beyond some length of the bristle material, such that fiber free ends are obtained by the corresponding cleaning, polishing or similar action.
As the continuous material, a textile material which can preferably have a smooth or rough surface is used. Thus, at first, a combination of elastic short fibers having a woven fabric on the outside is provided, which has a moderate adhesion to the intermediate layer. The fabric may be wound or looped.
If absorbent fabrics such as coarse yarn or the like are used, this leads to a lot of protection and cleanability, as well as introducing liquid into the micropowder medium which can be transported back in use.
The continuous material may comprise an elastic short fiber or an ultrafine metal wire having abrasive properties.
The invention also relates to multilayer bristles comprising a core that primarily determines the bending force of the bristles, a cover layer that primarily determines the brush action, and an intermediate layer that promotes adhesion. According to the present invention, such bristles comprise a continuous material wound or circulated on the intermediate layer and the continuous material is at least partially bonded or inserted into the intermediate layer.
Preferably, the intermediate layer is made of a softer material than the core comprising short fibers or multiple fibers. The interlayer comprises a rubbery material, which can in particular bond the continuous material only through its pretension when winding up. This applies to the intermediate layer of foam material.
The bristles constructed in accordance with the present invention can be used for many other purposes, for example the bristles of brushes or paintbrushes. It may also act as a toothbrush alone. Finally it (bristle) is for applying a liquid or powder medium, which can be very advantageously used in tools, especially brushes or paintbrushes, in which the liquid or powder medium is inserted into the fabric.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the associated embodiments and the accompanying drawings.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the bristle material 1 has a core 2 which substantially determines the bending force of the final bristle and is formed of one or more elastic short fibers. The core 2 is preferably applied with an intermediate layer 3 made of a soft material. The intermediate layer is applied with a continuous material 4, for example a natural or synthetic fabric, on which one side facing at least the intermediate layer is bonded or inserted into the intermediate layer, such that the continuous material 4 is fixed to the intermediate layer 3. It is also possible to wind several consecutive fibers naturally or in parallel.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the bristle material 1 also has a core and an intermediate layer, on which the continuous material 4 is not only wound but also ringed at the same time. As in the case of the bristle material according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the continuous material can be inserted into the intermediate layer by the corresponding pretension. Alternatively or in addition to this, the intermediate layer may be made of a material that undergoes a change of state through an activation process, eg heating, that causes or facilitates the insertion of the continuous material.
The core may have any cross-sectional shape to suit the purpose of use and one embodiment is shown in FIG. 4. The bristle material 1 has an approximately lozenge core 5 to which the intermediate layer 6 is applied and at the same time fills the convex space of the core 5. After the intermediate layer has been applied, for example, the continuous material is wound or looped. Due to the contour of the core 5, the bristles of the bristle material according to FIG. 4 have preferred bending directions. Due to the convex areas filled in the intermediate layer, the abrasion of the product is affected. The bristle stalk action pursued through continuous materials occurs beyond the bristles and in other areas.
