Description
The present invention relates to a double-core optical fiber array device and a method of manufacturing the same.
Conventional double-fiber optical fiber array device forms a V-shaped groove on a substrate made of silicon and mounts an optical fiber in the groove.
However, in order to stably mount the optical fiber in the grooves, the photocuring epoxy should be applied and the epoxy should be cured with ultraviolet rays. In the case of using a silicon substrate, the ultraviolet rays cannot penetrate the silicon substrate and thus the photocuring epoxy. The portion that is not cured occurs, which causes a problem that the optical fiber is not stably fixed to the groove.
In addition, due to the shrinkage operation of the epoxy, there is a problem that the double-core optical fiber array element is deformed.
In addition, the silicon substrate has a disadvantage in that stability is lower than that of quartz due to the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion with the optical fiber.

At this time, a plurality of grooves formed through the grinding process is not a constant shape, a problem that takes a lot of time during the grinding process occurs.
