Abstract
본 발명은 광섬유를 이용한 이미지센서에 관한 것으로, 이미지 센싱부와 센싱된 화소의 처리를 위한 제어부가 하나의 칩에 형성된 이미지 센서가 패키지 프레임 내에 위치시키고 이 프레임의 상부가 글라스리드로 밀봉된 패키징된 이미지 센서에 있어서, 상기 글라스리드의 하단에 광섬유 다발로 된 이미지 정렬부를 부착하여 상기 이미지 센싱부 상부에 상기 이미지 정렬부가 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 패키징 된 이미지 센서를 제공하여, 스트레이 광을 없게 하여 선명하고 정확한 화상으로 쉐이딩이 없는 이미지센서에 관한 것이다

본 발명은 광섬유를 이용한 이미지센서에 관한 것으로, 특히 스트레이 광을 없게 하여 선명하고 정확한 화상으로 쉐이딩이 없는 이미지센서에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 이미지센서는 광학영상을 전기적 신호로 변환시키는 반도체 모듈로서 그 영상신호를 저장 및 전송, 디스플레이 장치로 표시하기 위해 사용한다. 이미지 센서는 실리콘 반도체를 기반으로 한 고체촬상소자(Charge Coupled Device, 이하 "CCD"라 함)와 상보성금속산화막반도체(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor, 이하 "CMOS"라 함)로 크게 두 가지로 분류된다.
상기 이미지센서의 소형화, 다화소화로의 변화에 따라 단위면적당 더 많은 화소를 만들고 있으며 화소 크기가 작아짐에 따라 상부에 온칩으로 형성하는 칼라 필타 및 마이크로렌즈층의 사이즈 또한 작아진다. 단위화소 크기가 작아짐에 따라 빛을 받아들이는 포토다이오드 영역의 축소에 따라 감도는 줄어들게 된다.
따라서 줄어드는 감도를 보상하기 위해서는 더 많은 빛을 받아들여야 하는데 그렇게 하기 위해선 개구부를 늘리는 방법과 상부에 집광 마이크로렌즈를 형성하는 방법 등이 있는데 개구부는 대부분 금속층으로 형성을 하게 되며 이 금속층은 배선 및 차광막 역할을 하게 되는데, 입사하는 화상의 입사각도가 커짐에 따라 개구율을 늘려야 하며 이는 차단하는 금속의 차단 기능 저하를 가져온다. 또한 화상의 균일한 재현을 위해서 이미지센서의 가운데 영역과 가장자리 영역의 균일한 입력이 요구된다.
이렇게 균일한 입력을 위해서 가장자리 쪽의 상부 집광 마이크로렌즈는 이미지센서의 가운데 영역으로 일정 거리로 수축 시켜서 형성을 하게 되며 이는 보다 정밀한 마스크가 요구되어 마스크의 가격 상승을 초래하고 또 광 경로를 이동시키기 때문에 더 많은 차광 금속의 개구를 요구하게 된다. 또한 경사지게 입사하는 광의 입사각도에 따른 반사율 증가로 입사광의 손실이 발생되며, 이렇게 반사가 일어난 빛이 인접화소로 재입사하여 불명확한 화상획득으로 이어진다.
도 1은 통상의 이미지센서의 패키징 이후의 간략한 구조도로서, 이미지 센서(10)가 상부의 투명한 글라스리드(12)로 밀봉된 패키지(14)에 장착된 구조를 나타내고 있다.
실리콘 기판에 통상의 방법으로 CCD 또는 CMOS 타입으로 이미지센서를 형성하고, 상부에 온칩 컬러필터를 형성을 하게 된다. 이렇게 형성된 웨이퍼는 EDS를 거쳐 어셈블리를 하게 된다. 어셈블리는 간략하게 절단, 다이 접착과 큐어, 와이어링, 글라스리드 접착, 마킹을 거쳐 패키지 테스트를 한 다음 출하를 하게 된다.
종래의 방법에서의 광학적 문제점은 다음과 같이 설명할 수 있다.
1/4" 광학계의 모듈이며 이미지센서로의 입사화각을 예를 들면 통상 시야각은 인간의 눈이 색깔을 감지할 수 있는 시야각인 55도를 기준으로 약간 더 넓은 시야각인 55~65도정도의 시야각을 가지도록 설계를 한다. 이렇게 경사진 각을 가지고 입사하는 화상은 기구의 축소에 따라 더욱 예민하게 광전 변환부로의 입사에 어려움을 주고 있으며 이는 기구의 고화소, 소형화의 기능은 부과되고, 성능은 우수하게 제조하는 추세이기 때문에 공정적으로 초점 길이의 기구 구조는 각 층의 축소보다는 늘어나는 방향이기 때문에 더 더욱 집광의 어려움이 뒤따르게 된다.
도 2는 개략적인 시야각의 정도를 나타낸 모식도이다.
도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 내부의 이미지센서의 가운데 부분 이외의 가장자리 영역의 경우에는 약 30도에 가까운 경사진 각도로 외부의 화상이 입사하게 된다. 이렇게 경사지게 입사하는 외부화상을 손실없게 광전변환부인 포토다이오드에 집속하기 위해서는 하부의 집광 렌즈를 이미지센서의 가운데 부분으로 적당량 수축시켜야만 가능하게 된다.
도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 내부의 이미지센서의 가운데 부분 이외의 가장자리 영역의 경우에는 약 30도에 가까운 경사진 각도로 외부의 화상이 입사하게 된다. 이렇게 경사지게 입사하는 외부화상을 손실없게 광전변환부인 포토다이오드에 집속하기 위해서는 하부의 집광 렌즈를 이미지센서의 가운데 부분으로 적당량 수축시켜야만 가능하게 된다.
이 부분에서 적당량 수축시키기 위해서는 입사하는 각도에 맞도록 수축되어져야만 가능하다.
따라서 이미지센서의 다이아고널 쪽의 입사각도에 맞도록 이미지센서의 중심 쪽으로 1~3um 시프트에 의해 차광막의 개구가 요구된다. 이로 인하여 차광 기능 저하 및 배선으로 사용되는 기능의 열화를 초래하기 때문에 문제가 야기된다.
도 3은 이미지센서의 화소 스트레이 정도를 나타내는 그래프로서, 이와 같이 화소수가 증가됨에 따라 다이아고널 쪽에서의 집광이 벗어나는 정도가 많아지는 것을 볼 수 있으며, 이로 인한 집광을 위해서는 더 넓은 개구를 요구하게 되며, 이는 기구 구현 차원에서 불가능한 영역까지 갈 수도 있게 된다.
또한 경사지게 입사하는 광의 입사각도에 따른 반사율 증가로 감도저하 및 인접화소로의 재입사에 따른 불명확한 화상획득의 원인이 되기도 한다.
본 발명은 상기한 문제점을 해소하기 위한 것으로, 광의 집속을 유도하여 스트레이 광을 없게 하여 선명하고 정확한 화상으로 쉐이딩이 없는 이미지센서를 제공하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다.
상기한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 이미지센서는, 이미지 센싱부와 센싱된 화소의 처리를 위한 제어부가 하나의 칩에 형성된 이미지 센서가 패키지 프레임 내에 위치되고, 이 프레임의 상부가 글라스리드로 밀봉된 패키징된 이미지 센서에 있어서, 상기 글라스리드의 하단에 광섬유 다발로 된 이미지 정렬부를 부착하여 상기 이미지 센싱부 상부에 상기 이미지 정렬부가 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 것이다.
상기 이미지 정렬부는 상기 이미지 센싱부의 상단에 부착하여 형성된 것 일수도 있고, 상기 광섬유에 적외선 차단필터가 형성되어 있는 것일 수도 있다.
이와 같이 본 발명에 따른 이미지센서는 광섬유를 이용하여 집광하도록 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 것이다.
앞서 설명한 바와 같이 이미지센서용 기구를 제조함에 있어서, 이미지를 받아들이는 이미지 평면에 존재하는 포토다이오드의 개수가 해상도를 결정하기 때문에 고화소화로의 진전 및 소형화에 따른 단위 화소의 미세화가 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 이렇게 소형화 및 고화소화로의 진전에 따라 외부 화상의 입력을 이미지 평면에 집속함에 있어서 수광렌즈를 통해 집속을 하게 되는데 이 수광렌즈를 통한 화상이 이미지센서에 집속시 50~60도정도의 화각을 가지고 집속을 하게 되는데, 이렇게 경사지게 집속하는 광을 효율적으로 집속하기 위해서, 이미지센서의 가장자리 부분쪽으로 갈수록 입사각도가 더 큰 입사각을 가지게 되기 때문에 화소 상부에 형성되는 복수의 컬러필터층 및 마이크로렌즈층의 수축화로 포토다이오드로 입사를 유도하게 된다.
또는 컬러필터층 하부의 내부층 또는 금속배선막의 박막화로 입사각도에 대한 마진을 넓혀 경사지게 입사하는 입사광에 대한 집속을 유도하기도 한다.
이렇게 실리콘 기구와 온칩으로 형성하는 컬러필터 및 마이크로렌즈층의 수축에 따른 입사하는 화각에 따른 차광금속의 개구부를 넓게 가져가야 되는데 이로 인한 차광 기능저하 및 기울어진 각도로 입사함에 따른 집광 마이크로렌즈부분에서의 반사와 집광도 저하를 광섬유를 통해 막는 방법을 제공한다.
이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 보다 상세하게 설명한다.
도 4는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 이미지 센서를 나타낸 구조도로서, 실리콘 웨이퍼 공정을 진행한 이미지센서(10)가 패키징되되, 글라스리드(12)와 마이크로렌즈층(16) 사이에 광파이버 다발(18)이 위치하는 것을 보여주고 있는 것으로, 광파이버 다발(18)이 글라스리드(12)에 인캡슐레이션 한 것이다.
글라스리드(12)의 센서측은 광파이버의 직경을 1~10㎛정도의 것으로 길이는 1~10mm 정도로 하여 이미지 센싱 영역 정도의 면적을 가지도록 다발을 만들어 글라스리드(12)에 투명 에폭시 계열의 물질을 이용하여 부착을 하여 형성이 되어진다. 이 광파이버는 글라스리드로 경사지게 입사하는 광의 입사각도를 이미지평면에 수직광으로 변환을 시켜주며, 이는 광파이버 내부에서 전반사를 이용하는 것이다.
광파이버의 직경과 길이는 이미지센서의 단위화소의 크기에 따라 다르게 적용되어지며, 직경은 단위화소 크기의 1/5~5배 정도까지 사용이 가능하다. 길이의 경우에는 패키지 형태에 따라 다르게 된다.
따라서 이 실시예에서 이미지센서 제조를 위한 공정을 거친 이미지 센서가 패키지 프레임 내에 위치되고, 이 프레임의 상부가 글라스리드로 밀봉된 패키징된 이미지 센서에서, 상기 이미지 센싱부 상부에 광섬유 다발로 된 이미지 정렬부가 위치하고 있음을 보여준다. 여기서 상기 이미지 정렬부는 글라스리드의 하단에 부착하여 형성된 것일 수 있고, 상기 광섬유에 적외선 차단필터가 형성되어 있는 것일 수 있으며, 상기 이미지 정렬부는 상기 이미지 센싱부의 상단에 부착하여 형성된 것일 수도 있다.
본 발명의 효과는 이미지센서를 제조함에 있어서, 센서의 가장자리 부분으로 입사하는 광의 집속효율을 향상하기 위하여 컬러필터층 상부에 광파이버 다발을 사용하여 이미지 평면에 수직광으로 집속을 하기 때문에 각각의 화소를 구분하는 차광막 공정을 진행함에 있어서 입사하는 화상의 경사진 각도를 보정하기 위한 메탈 공정의 마진 증가 효과가 있으며 이미지 평면에 수직 입사로 변경을 해 주기 때문에 집속효율 향상 및 광전변환효과가 증대된다.
그리고 이러한 경사진 각도로 입사하는 화상을 정해진 위치의 화소에 집속하기 위해 온칩방식의 상부층으로 형성하는 컬러필터층을 수축 시켜서 집속을 하게 되는데, 이때에 수축의 경우 매우 규칙적으로 축소시켜야 하기 때문에 마스크 제조시 이-빔 스팟 사이즈를 작은 것을 사용하여야 하므로 제조 단가가 상승하게 되는 문제점이 있는 이를 해결할 수가 있게 된다.
아울러 광파이버내부에 적외선 컷오프를 위한 박막형성으로 IR 컷 필터를 별도로 사용하지 않아도 되는 장점이 발생하고 이로 인한 패키지 부피를 줄여 휴대용 등의 모듈 세트 전체 부피를 줄여서 응용범위의 확대가 가능해진다.

- 이미지 센싱부와 센싱된 화소의 처리를 위한 제어부가 하나의 칩에 형성된 이미지 센서가 패키지 프레임 내에 위치시키고 이 프레임의 상부가 글라스리드로 밀봉된 패키징된 이미지 센서에 있어서, 상기 글라스리드의 하단에 광섬유 다발로 된 이미지 정렬부를 부착하여 상기 이미지 센싱부 상부에 상기 이미지 정렬부가 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 패키징 된 이미지 센서.
