- 연료통의 내부에 설치되는 전송선과, 상기 전송선에 고주파를 발생시켜 연료 깊이에 따라 달라지는 전압을 측정하는 회로부와, 상기 회로부는 고무 등으로 방수 처리된 회로부 케이스와 회로부 케이스 내의 회로기판으로 구성되고, 전송선과 회로부의 연결부분은 완전히 방수할 수 있는 방수마개를 구비하는 자동차 연료 게이지에 있어서,상기 회로부는 전송선에 인가할 신호를 생성하는 고주파 발생부와, 상기 고주파 발생부에서 생성된 신호가 전송선에 인가된 후 반사되어 돌아오는 신호를 검출하여 고주파 발생부의 입력신호와 반사된 신호를 비교하여 반사계수를 계산하고, 계산된 반사계수에 의하여 연료통의 높이값을 계산하는 반사파탐지 및 캐패시턴스 전압 탐지부와, 상기 반사파 탐지 및 캐패시턴스 전압 탐지부에서 출력된 신호를 증폭하는 증폭부와, 상기 전송선에서 반사된 반사파를 측정하고 이를 증폭하여 연료량을 자동차 운전석 앞 표시판에 표시하도록 상기 고주파발생부와 상기 증폭부에 연결하는 커넥터로 구성되고;상기 전송선은 하단부가 뚫린 플라스틱 혹은 유리관 내에 설치되고, 전송선 종단부에 부하저항이 부착되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전송선을 이용한 자동차 연료 게이지.
