Abstract

어드레스 검색 시스템{ADDRESS RETRIEVAL SYSTEM}
본 발명은 개인 통신 시스템에 관한 것이며, 특히 국부 어드레스 정보를 검색하는 이동국의 사용에 관한 것이다.
이동 통신 가입자가 낯선 지역을 여행중인 경우의 통상적인 문제점은 그 가입자가 낯선 지역내에서의 특정 사업장(particular business) 또는 시설을 찾을 필요가 있다는 점에서 발생한다. 예를 들어, 가입자가 캘리포니아에서 뉴욕으로 여행중인데, 이 가입자가 캔사스의 중간에 있고 식사를 하거나 주유를 원하는 경우, 가입자는 이 서비스들이 어디에 있는지를 알지 못한다.
최근에, 어드레스형 정보를 제공하는 기존의 시스템은 사용자의 위치 및 상기 사용자의 위치와 관련하여 미리 프로그램된 사이트의 위치를 사용자에게 제공하는 전세계 측위 시스템(GPS)을 포함한다. 이러한 형태의 시스템은 매우 유용할 수 있지만, 매우 고가이다. 게다가, 사용자의 GPS 유닛에 미리 프로그램되어 있지 않은 사이트는 사용자에게 사용 불가능하게 된다. 그러므로, 셀룰러 전화 시스템의 이동국을 통해 동작하는 시스템은 이동 통신 가입자에게 값비싼 정보를 제공할 것이다.

본 발명은 레스토랑, 주유소, 세탁소 등과 같은 특정 형태의 사업장에 대한 어드레스 정보를 요청하는 기능을 이동 통신 가입자에게 제공하는 방법 및 장치를 이용하여 상술된 문제점 및 그외 다른 문제점을 극복하고자 하는 것이다. 이동국은 특정 형태의 사업장에 관한 위치 정보에 대한 요청을 발생시키기 위하여 이동국의 사용자 인터페이스를 통한 사용자 입력에 응답하는 모듈을 포함한다. 이러한 요청은 이동국에 서비스하는 이동 교환국(MSC)으로 전송되고, 그 요청은 이동국을 위한 홈 위치 레지스터(HLR)로 전송된다.
홈 위치 레지스터는 이동국이 전송하고 있는 위치 영역(LA) 및/또는 셀 글로벌 아이덴터티(CGI: Cell Global Identity)를 결정한다. 이동국에 대한 위치 데이터 및 요청은 홈 위치 레지스터와 관련하여 또는 이 레지스터로부터 떨어져서 위치된 데이터베이스로 전송된다. 홈 위치 레지스터에 의해 제공되는 위치 데이터 및 요청에 응답하여, 데이터베이스는 이동국의 셀 글로벌 아이덴터티 영역 및/또는 위치 영역 내에 위치된 각각의 요청된 사업장 형태에 대한 어드레스 정보를 찾아낸다. 이 정보는 상기 정보를 사용자가 볼 수 있는 이동국으로 전송된다.

USSD 메시지로서 인코딩된 요청이 단계(35)에서 기지국(36)으로부터 MSC/VLR(30)로 전송된 후에, 상기 요청은 단계(45)에서 이동국(10)을 위한 홈 위치 레지스터(HLR)(40)로 전송된다. 이제 도 3을 참조하면, 관련 데이터베이스(55)의 구조가 도시되어 있다. 각각의 멤버 엔트리(65)는 특정 업종 카테고리(particular business classification category)(70)에 따라서 분류된다. 도 3의 예시는 레스토랑 업종 카테고리(70)를 도시한다. 다른 예들은 극장, 주유소, 상점가(mall), 볼링장 등을 포함한다. 각 멤버 엔트리(65)에 대하여, 이와 관련된 셀 그룹 아이덴터티(75) 및 위치 영역(80)이 존재하는데, 이것들 내에 사업장 멤버 엔트리가 위치된다. 어드레스 엔트리(85)는 멤버 엔트리(65)를 위한 물리적인 스트리트 어드레스를 나타낸다.
일단 데이터베이스(55)가 HLR(40)로부터 요청 및 위치 데이터 정보를 수신하면, 이 요청에 포함되는 특정 업종 카테고리(70)를 단계(100)에서 찾아낸다. 다음으로, 이동국(10)에 대한 셀 그룹 아이덴터티(75) 및/또는 위치 영역(80) 정보가 단계(105)에서 선택된 업종 카테고리(70)에 대한 CGI 및 LA 정보와 비교된다. 그리고 나서, 데이터베이스(55)는 단계(110)에서 요청하는 이동국(10)과 동일하거나 실질적으로 동일한 CGI 및/또는 LA중 하나를 갖는 선택된 업종 카테고리(70)의 멤버 엔트리(65)를 선택한다. 따라서, 사용자는 이동국(10)에서 자신의 특정 위치 영역 또는 셀 영역 내의 레스토랑을 찾아내거나, 인접 위치 영역 또는 셀 영역 내에 레스토랑을 찾아낼 수 있다.
다음으로, 선택된 멤버 엔트리(65)에 대한 어드레스가 단계(115)에서 이동국(10)으로 역전송하기 위해 USSD 메시지로 변환된다. HLR(40), MSC/VLR(30) 및 BS(35)를 역으로 통과함으로써 이동국(10)으로 역전송된다. 수신된 USSD 메시지는 사용자 모듈(20)에 의해 처리되고, 어드레스 정보는 사용자 디스플레이(120)를 통해 디스플레이된다.

Claims (23)

  1. 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보로의 액세스를 셀룰러 전화 네트워크 내의 이동국에 제공하는 방법에 있어서:
    선택된 업종의 멤버를 포함하는 데이터베이스를 규정하는 단계로서, 상기 선택된 업종의 각 멤버는 자신과 관련된 셀룰러 전화 네트워크의 섹터를 규정하는 위치 데이터를 갖는, 데이터베이스 규정 단계와;
    이동국으로부터의 상기 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보에 대한 사용자 요청을 중앙 위치에서 수신하는 단계와;
    상기 이동국에 대한 현재 위치와 관련된 셀룰러 전화 네트워크의 섹터를 식별하는 위치 데이터를 결정하는 단계와;
    상기 이동국과 실질적으로 동일한 셀룰러 전화 네트워크의 섹터 내에 위치되는 선택된 업종의 멤버를 데이터베이스 내에서 찾아내는 단계 및;
    상기 선택된 업종의 찾아낸 멤버에 대한 위치 정보를 상기 요청 이동국으로 전송하는 단계를 포함하는, 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보로의 액세스를 셀룰러 전화 네트워크 내의 이동국에 제공하는 방법.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 셀룰러 전화 네트워크의 섹터는 이동국의 위치 영역을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보로의 액세스를 셀룰러 전화 네트워크 내의 이동국에 제공하는 방법.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서,

    상기 결정된 위치 영역 및 셀 글로벌 아이덴터티중 하나 이상 및 위치 정보에 대한 요청에 응답하여, 상기 이동국과 실질적으로 동일한 상기 결정된 위치 영역 및 셀 글로벌 아이덴터티중 하나 이상을 갖는 선택된 업종의 멤버에 대한 위치 정보를 제공하는 데이터베이스를 구비하는, 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보를 사용자가 얻을 수 있도록 하는 시스템.
  11. 제 10 항에 있어서,
    상기 이동국 내에 위치된 수단 및 데이터베이스는 비구조화된 부가 서비스 데이터 메시지를 사용하여 통신 링크를 통해 상호 접속되는 것을 특징으로 하는 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보를 사용자가 얻을 수 있도록 하는 시스템.
  12. 제 10 항에 있어서,

    사용자가 비구조화 부가 서비스 데이터 프로토콜을 사용하여 통신 링크를 통해서 중앙 위치로 위치 정보에 대한 요청을 전송할 수 있도록 하는 상기 이동국 내에 위치된 사용자 모듈과;
    위치 정보에 대한 요청에 응답하여 이동국이 현재 위치되는 셀룰러 전화 시스템의 섹터를 결정하는 상기 중앙 위치 내의 수단과;
    복수의 업종에 대한 복수의 멤버를 포함하여, 상기 이동국과 실질적으로 동일한 셀룰러 전화 시스템의 섹터 내에 위치되는 선택된 업종의 멤버에 대한 위치 정보를 제공하는 관련 데이터베이스를 구비하며, 상기 복수의 멤버 각각은 위치 정보 및 셀룰러 전화 시스템의 관련 섹터를 갖는, 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보를 사용자가 얻을 수 있도록 하는 시스템.
  19. 제 18 항에 있어서,
    상기 결정 수단은 이동국을 위한 홈 위치 레지스터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 선택된 업종에 대한 위치 정보를 사용자가 얻을 수 있도록 하는 시스템.
  20. 제 18 항에 있어서,
