Abstract

본 발명은 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치에 관한 것으로 TFT LCD영상의 휘도를 제어할 때, 휘도 조정단자 대신에 TFT LCD의 공통전압(common voltage)단자를 제어함으로써, 휘도 조정 가변저항의 변화에 따라서 색(color), 색의 농담(tint) 및 색의 대조(contrast) 등이 함께 변화되지 않도록 하여 영상의 화질을 개선하는 수단을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
이를 위하여 본 발명은 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치에서 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 공통(COMamp)포트에 연결되어 있는 휘도 입력 단자와, 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 휘도(bright)포트에 한 쪽이 연결되어 있고 다른 한 쪽은 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항에 연결되어 있으며, 상기 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항을 제어하는 것에 의하여 액정표시패널의 휘도를 제어하는 크로마회로부를 포함하여 구성이 되는 것에 특징이 있다.

Description

휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치 {TFT LCD with bright control circuit}
본 발명은 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치에 관한 것으로서, 보다 상세하게는 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치에 관한 것이다.
영상표시장치의 표시품질을 위하여 휘도 레벨은 어느 제어부분보다도 중요하다 할 것이며, 이러한 세밀한 휘도 제어를 위하여 많은 경력이 필요하다.
도 1은 종래의 다른 실시예에 따른 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치의 구성을 나타내는 회로도로서 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 휘도(bright)포트는 휘도 입력 단자에 연결되어 있고, 크로마회로부의 공통(COMamp)포트는 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항에 연결되어 있다.
그러나, 상기 장치는 영상표시장치의 휘도 조정단자의 변화에 따라서 색(color), 색의 농담(tint) 및 색의 대조(contrast) 등이 함께 변화되어 영상제어에 문제점이 있다.
본 발명은 상기한 바와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로서, TFT LCD영상의 휘도를 제어할 때, 휘도 조정단자 대신에 TFT LCD의 공통전압(common voltage)단자를 제어함으로써, 휘도 조정을 할 수 있으며 그리고 색(color), 색의 농담(tint) 및 색의 대조(contrast) 등이 함께 변화되지 않도록 하여 영상의 화질을 개선하는 수단을 제공함에 그 목적이 있다.
상기한 바와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명에 따른 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치는 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 공통(COMamp)포트에 연결되어 있는 휘도 입력 단자와, 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 휘도(bright)포트에 한 쪽이 연결되어 있고 다른 한 쪽은 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항에 연결되어 있으며, 상기 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항을 제어하는 것에 의하여 액정표시패널의 휘도를 제어하는 크로마회로부를 포함하여 구성이 되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
이하, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 대하여, 첨부 도면을 참조하여 설명한다.
도 2는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치의 구성을 나타내고 있으며, 휘도 입력 단자는 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 공통(COMamp)포트에 연결되어 있고, 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항은 구동회로(20)내의 크로마회로부(21) 휘도(bright)포트에 한 쪽이 연결되어 있으며, 상기 공통전압(VCOM)회로(22)의 가변저항을 제어하는 것에 의하여 크로마회로부의 휘도(bright)포트에 입력되는 전압이 변하게 된다.
구동회로내의 크로마회로부는 상기 휘도(bright)포트에 입력되는 아날로그 입력 전압을 디지털 전압으로 변환하는 과정을 거친 후, 상기 디지털 전압치에 상응하여 조정된 휘도 신호를 액정표시패널측으로 출력하여 TFT LCD표시부의 휘도를 색(color), 색의 농담(tint) 및 색의 대조(contrast) 등과 관계없이 제어할 수 있게된다.
또한 상기 디지털 전압치에 상응하여 조정된 휘도 신호를 출력시키기 위하여는, 마이컴내부의 프로그램상에 미리 데이터 맵핑(data mapping) 등의 방식으로 최적의 제어를 위한 데이터를 저장한 후, 각각의 경우에 상응하는 최적의 휘도 제어신호 및 데이터를 출력시킨다.
상기한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 관한 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치에 의하면, TFT LCD영상의 휘도를 제어할 때, 휘도 조정단자 대신에 TFT LCD의 공통전압(common voltage)회로의 가변저항을 제어함으로써, 휘도 조정 가변저항의 변화에 따라서 색(color), 색의 농담(tint) 및 색의 대조(contrast) 등이 함께 변화되지 않도록 하여 영상의 화질을 개선할 수 있다.
도 1은 종래의 또 다른 실시예에 따른 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치의 구성을 나타내는 회로도.

Claims (1)

  1. 공통전압(VCOM)회로의 가변저항을 제어하는 것에 의하여 액정표시패널의 휘도를 제어하는 영상표시장치에 있어서,
    구동회로내의 크로마회로부 공통(COMamp)포트에 연결되어 있는 휘도 입력 회로와;
    구동회로내의 크로마회로부 휘도(bright)포트와 공통전압(VCOM)측의 가변저항을 연결하는 회로에 의하여 액정표시패널의 휘도를 제어하는 것을 특징으로 하는 휘도 제어회로가 구비된 박막 트랜지스터 액정표시장치.
