Abstract

PURPOSE: A fault localization method for electric railroad system is provided to detect correctly the distance of a fault position by finding a type of fault by means of the feeding current and the boost current. CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary and a main slave devices detect the boost current from each auto-transformer of an auxiliary sectioning post and a sectioning post(S2). A master device detects the feeding current and the feeding voltage of a substation and the boost current of the auto-transformers and the detected state of a railroad system is displayed(S3). A protective relay outputs a trip signal to a cut-off device(S5). The master device detects the boost current of the auto-transformer of the substation according to the trip signal and requests the boost current of the auto-transformers to the auxiliary and the main slave devices(S6). The auxiliary and the main slave devices transmit the boost current from each auto-transformer of the auxiliary sectioning post and the sectioning post(S7). A fault position is located by considering the feeding current and the boost current from each auto-transformer(S15).
