Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat supply device for preventing an engine from freezing and a method thereof are provided to prevent the damage of engine due to the freezing of cooling water by operating a hot wire or turning on an ignition switch according to a detected temperature of the cooling water. CONSTITUTION: A heat supply device for preventing engine freezing includes a bending element(40) attached to an outer wall of a cylinder block for checking a freezing state of cooling water, an engine electronic control unit(ECU)(30) for sensing the freezing state of the cooling water according to the voltage decrease of the bending element and controlling the operation of a warning part(50) and a hot wire(10), a relay switch(SW) for controlling power supply of a battery(20) to be supplied to the hot wire under the control of the engine ECU, the warning part for outputting a warning signal in case of freezing, and the hot wire attached to the outer wall of the cylinder block to be driven by the power from the battery for heating the cooling water.
