Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting device.
One of the light sources of light emitting devices such as lighting devices and display devices is an organic EL element. The organic EL element has a configuration in which an organic layer is disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. In a light emitting device having an organic EL element, an insulating layer may be used to define a light emitting portion of the organic EL element (for example, Patent Document 1).
Patent Document 1 further describes that a sealing film is used to seal the organic EL element. In Patent Document 1, the sealing film is formed using silicon nitride.
An end portion of the organic layer and an end portion of the second electrode may be positioned on the insulating layer for defining the light emitting portion of the organic EL element. As a result of investigations by the present inventors, in a light emitting device having such a structure, when a coating film covering the light emitting part such as a sealing film is formed, the sealing film and the organic layer are in contact with each other on the insulating layer. It was found that the organic layer deteriorates from the portion of the organic layer that is in contact with the sealing film.
As a problem to be solved by the present invention, in a light-emitting device having a coating film covering a light-emitting portion, it is necessary to prevent the organic layer from deteriorating from a portion located on the insulating layer among the end portions of the organic layer. As an example.

被覆膜200は、例えばALD(Atomic Layer Deposition)法を用いて形成されている。
The
However, the
In the example shown in this drawing, the end portion of the

FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view showing a first example of a manufacturing method of the
First, as illustrated in FIG. 2A, the
Next, the
Thereafter, the
Next, the
In the state shown in FIG. 2B, the entire
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a second example of the method for manufacturing the
As a result of examination by the present inventors, when the

FIG. 5 is a plan view of the
The
The
The
The
As shown in FIGS. 6 and 8 to 10, the insulating
The
The
In the region overlapping with the
In the example shown in FIG. 8 and FIG. 9, each layer constituting the
As illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 8 to 10, the
In a cross section perpendicular to the direction in which the
The
As shown in FIGS. 8 and 10, the
The end of the

Next, a first example of a method for manufacturing the
Next, as shown in FIG. 11A, an insulating
Next, the
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 11C, the

FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a second example of the method for manufacturing the
The manufacturing method of the light-emitting

FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a third example of the method for manufacturing the
In this example, as shown in FIG. 13, a
In the second example shown in FIG. 12 and the third example shown in FIG. 13, the insulating
