Abstract
Description
本発明の実施例1として、液晶シャッターめがね20の輝度分布について、図10、図11A〜図11Dを用いて説明する。
実施例2として、実施例1で説明した液晶シャッターめがねの応答時間とOFF時の光漏れについて、図12を用いて説明する。
実施例3として、実施例1で説明した液晶シャッターめがね20の透過状態での輝度分布について図13および図14を用いて説明する。この輝度分布は、図7に示した状態4Bに相当する。
Claims (8)
- 配向膜が塗布された一対の基板と各基板間に封入された液晶材料とを有する一対の液晶素子が積層された積層構造体と、前記積層構造体の両側のうちの一方に設けられた偏光子と、前記積層構造体の両側のうちの他方に設けられた検光子と、を有し、
前記偏光子の光透過軸と前記検光子の光透過軸とが交差し、
各液晶素子において、前記一対の基板のうち、他の液晶素子と隣接する基板に塗布された配向膜が水平配向膜であり、当該基板とは別の基板に塗布された配向膜が垂直配向膜であり、
前記積層構造体内の前記偏光子が設けられた液晶素子の水平配向膜が、前記検光子の光透過軸と平行な方向に配向処理が行われ、かつ、前記積層構造体内の検光子が設けられた液晶素子の水平配向膜が、前記偏光子の光透過軸と平行な方向に配向処理され、
各液晶素子が有する各液晶材料は、正の誘電率異方性を有し、かつ、互いに逆向きのねじれを有する、液晶シャッター。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶シャッターにおいて、
前記偏光子の光透過軸と前記検光子の光透過軸とが直交し、
前記互いに隣接する各基板に塗布された水平配向膜は、互いに直交する方向に配向処理されている、液晶シャッター。 - 請求項1または2に記載の液晶シャッターにおいて、
各液晶素子に封入された各液晶材料の厚さと、当該液晶材料の屈折率異方性との積のそれぞれが、等しいまたは略等しい、液晶シャッター。 - 請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶シャッターにおいて、
各液晶素子に封入された各液晶材料のカイラルピッチが、互いに等しいまたは略等しい、液晶シャッター。 - 請求項1ないし4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶シャッターを有する液晶シャッターめがね。
- 請求項5に記載の液晶シャッターめがねにおいて、
前記一対の液晶素子のうち、前記液晶シャッターめがねの前面側にある液晶素子が有する水平配向膜が、前記液晶シャッターめがねの幅方向に配向処理されている、液晶シャッターめがね。 - 請求項6に記載の液晶シャッターめがねにおいて、
前記幅方向に配向処理された水平配向膜を有する基板上の液晶分子の長軸が、前記液晶シャッターめがねの内側に向かうにつれ当該基板から離れている方向に、当該液晶分子が傾いている、液晶シャッターめがね。 - 請求項5ないし7のいずれか1項に記載の液晶シャッターめがねにおいて、
前記液晶シャッターは、前記一対の液晶素子に電圧が印加されていない場合、光を遮蔽する遮蔽状態となり、
前記一対の液晶素子のうち、前記液晶シャッターめがねの背面側にある液晶素子に電圧を印加して、前記液晶シャッターを、光を透過する透過状態にする駆動手段をさらに有する、液晶シャッターめがね。
