上述した実施形態1の表示装置では、従来の液晶表示装置と同様のバックライト220を用いたが、本発明の表示装置はこれに限定されない。
以下、図面を参照して、本発明による表示装置の第3の実施形態を説明する。
Claims (8)
- 複数のサブ画素によって規定される画素を有する表示装置であって、
前記複数のサブ画素は、赤を表示する赤サブ画素と、緑を表示する緑サブ画素と、青を表示する青サブ画素と、黄を表示する黄サブ画素とを有し、
前記画素が白を表示するとき、前記赤サブ画素の輝度は最高階調に対応する輝度よりも低い、表示装置。 - 前記赤サブ画素の主波長は597nm以上780nm未満であり、前記緑サブ画素の主波長は488nm以上558nm未満であり、前記青サブ画素の主波長は380nm以上488nm未満であり、前記黄サブ画素の主波長は558nm以上597nm未満である、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素が白を表示するとき、前記赤サブ画素の輝度は最高階調に対応する輝度の96%以下の輝度である、請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素が白を表示するとき、前記赤サブ画素の輝度は最高階調に対応する輝度の25%以上の輝度である、請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素が白を表示するとき、前記緑サブ画素、青サブ画素および黄サブ画素の輝度はそれぞれの最高階調に対応する輝度である、請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素によって表示される白の色温度は4200Kよりも大きい、請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素によって表示される白の色温度は5000K以上である、請求項6に記載の表示装置。
- 画素を有し、
前記画素が赤を表示するための赤サブフレームと、前記画素が緑を表示するための緑サブフレームと、前記画素が青を表示するための青サブフレームと、前記画素が黄を表示するための黄サブフレームとを含むフレームによって表示を行うフィールドシーケンシャル方式の表示装置であって、
前記フレームにおいて前記画素が白を表示する場合、前記赤サブフレームにおける前記画素の輝度は最高階調に対応する輝度よりも低い、表示装置。
