Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a small dot diameter to enable a printing with a high resolving power, by a method wherein, after the extinction of a first drive pulse voltage, a second drive pulse voltage is applied again while an ink column is still discharging. CONSTITUTION:A first drive pulse I is applied to a vibrating unit 3 at a time t1, whereby the vibrating unit 3 is displaced reversely to an ink pressurizing liquid chamber 2. In this manner, the capacity in the liquid chamber 2 is increased, and an ink meniscus surface is pulled towards the liquid chamber 2. After that, at a time t2 the voltage of the first drive pulse I is eliminated, whereby the vibrating unit 3 is returned to an original state. After this voltage extinction, a second drive pulse II is again applied at a time t3 during the discharge of an ink. In this manner, the vibrating unit 3 is again displaced reversely to the ink pressurizing liquid chamber 2, the pressure in the liquid chamber 2 is lowered, an ink column is liquefied only at the tip end part thereof, the remaining part is forcedly pulled back into the liquid chamber 2. After the extiction of the second drive pulse at a time t4, the vibrating unit 3 damps to return into a set-up state.
