Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an excellent heat insulating fiber structure giving no obstruction to sweating of the human body by sewing a lower layer of hygroscopic fiber, an upper layer of humidity-proof and hygroscopic fiber and a middle layer of irregularly dispersed humidity-proof synthetic fiber. CONSTITUTION: A heat insulating fiber structure 11 comprises a middle layer 12 between an upper layer 13 and a lower layer 14. The lower layer 14 is formed by natural fiber made by twisting cotton, wool, silk and ramie into yarns 15 and spaces 16 for absorbing humidity is formed between yarns 15. The middle layer 12 is a non-fibrous mat comprising humidity-proof synthetic fiber 21 such as irregularly oriented polyester, etc., and spaces 22 are formed between the humidity-proof synthetic fibers 21. The middle layer 12 is compressed between concave and convex surfaces 17 of the upper layer 13 and lower layer 14, and a heat insulating chamber 23 is formed to fill air inside the concave section 19 resulting in increasing the heat insulating capacity thereof. The upper layer 13 comprises fiber formed by twisting yarn 24. The yarn 24 is formed by twisting and mixing the hygroscopic natural fiber and humidity-proof synthetic fiber. The humidity evaporating ratio of the upper layer 13 is thus determined by selecting certain mixing ratio resulted from the mixing process as described above.
