PURPOSE:To form a faithful color copy image by reflecting the light of an exposure lamp by color reference plates, detecting the quantity of light by color separation of the reflected light and performing the exposure control corresponding to each color of blue, green, and red based on the detected value. CONSTITUTION:Blue light, green light, and red light are made incident on an optical sensor 73 at the time of forming a yellow toner image, a magenta toner image, and a cyan toner image respectively by a color separation filter 72. The optical sensor 73 detects the quantity of incident light. Meanwhile, quantities of reflected light from blue, green, and red reference plates are preliminarily stored in an area M of a RAM 83 and are set in accordance with sensitivity characteristics to respective wavelength light of a photosensitive body. The exposure of an exposure lamp 61a is adjusted by an exposure lamp control part 85 so that the quantity of light incident on the optical sensor 73 coincides with a preliminarily set quantity of light. Thus, a color image is always formed in an accurately corrected state.
