Abstract

PURPOSE:To expand the diameter of a light beam and to change the optical path with a high precision by detecting exciting light beam information in a read position at the time of preread and adjusting the extent of adjustment of a stimulating light beam adjusting means in accordance with this information. CONSTITUTION:A stimulating light beam detecting means 18 is arranged on the scanning line of a prereading light beam 30. Light beam information (the position and the beam diameter) of the beam 30 detected by the means 18 is transmitted to a driving control system 34b so that a required extent of movement can be obtained by a processor 52, and stimulating light beam adjusting means 16 is always adjusted so that the light beam has a desired beam diameter in a desired position. The electric signal of radiograph information detected by a photodetector 46 at the time of preread is transmitted to a control circuit 56, and a read condition of actual read is determined in accordance with obtained radiograph information.
