Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (X is oxygen, sulfur or selenium; formula II is aromatic, unsaturated heterocyclic or heterocyclic group condensed with benzene rings; R is 1-20C alkyl; R1 is H or 1-5C alkoxy; R2 and R3 are H, 1-5C alkyl, 1-5C alkoxy, carbonyl, halogen, nitro or cyano). EXAMPLE:3-Methylspiro[benzothiazoline-2,3'-[3H]naphtho[2,2-b](1,4)thia zine. USE:A photochromic compound for imaging. PREPARATION:(A) A solution of 2-methylbenzothiazole expressed by formula III in absolute ethanol is mixed with (B) a solution of methyl bromide in absolute ethanol and refluxed at 80 deg.C. (C) Triethylamine and (D) 1-nitrilo-2- naphthalenethiol expressed by formula IV are then added to further carry out refluxing. The resultant deposited substance is recrystallized to afford the aimed compound.
